every time i see a "trailer" like this that relies on the FWOAAAR WOWWWW BWAAAAA thing for something other than a movie or tv shows i have to stop and think "what exactly is the demographic they are aiming for, because all it does is turn me off"
Thank god, PC gaming is saved again.
I bet the cooling and noise levels are just fantastic.
why
By "modular" they must mean proprietary, because last time I checked any stationary computer had interchangeable parts. I'm glad they change this so I'll never buy the wrong socket CPU. Thanks Razer, you're saving PC gaming.
It's a pretty interesting concept.
directed by DICE
If it has a decent price it would definitely catch my eye. Knowing Razer though, it'll probably set you back as much as a Lamborghini would.
I personally don't like Razer for their pseudo "uberl33t-pro gamer" marketing and the quality and bad value of their products but this does look like a good concept. We have a lot of console gamers nowadays want to get into PC gaming but have no hardware knowledge. What do they do? They buy complete "Gamer" PCs and regret their decision some years after their investment and buy a new PC. With such a foolproof concept, they can upgrade their rig whenever they want without any problems. It's interesting, let's watch how this in combination with the soon available steambox computers will proceed, succeed, fail or even reshape the market.
I wonder how this will work. Will you need a new "frame" or "rig" (whatever they call the tower where the modular components plug into) every time the new intel socket comes out to put the modular CPU into? etc etc. Just seems like an elaborate waste of time and money if they don't address this and somehow make it compatible with various sockets.
Wow, what an informative video.
This is going to cost so much money it wont even be worth it.

I don't get this, PCs are modular by nature.
Interesting concept. Looks like a really ugly IMO, but interesting concept none the less.
the idea is this is directed at the crowd that dont have hardware experience, people who don't trust themselves to install a 300-500 dollar card in-case they fuck it up there are a lot of people in that demographic its literally just "slide it in and it works" from the looks of it
Given how expensive this setup is most likely going to be, it'd probably be drastically cheaper to buy the hardware and then pay someone to assemble it for you :v:
One of those modular pieces had "CPU 01" on the side, implying you can get more than a single CPU?
tbh it might not cost as much as people are thinking it will, remember that by the looks of it they will most likely be selling the parts on their own i hardly believe they could get away with charging a shitload more for the card they are essentially retrofitting. example, they wouldnt make you pay 500 dollars for a 760 also note that argument never stopped people from buying alienware
well in all honesty if the price is reasonable, then this could be a neat choice for a tower, it's weird as shit but I still have my doubts, as most of Razer's stuff is usually either overpriced, or suffers from poor build quality, sometimes both.
It'll probably be standard PC hardware shoved into those chambers, with some weird proprietary connectors to hook it to a motherboard inside the rest of the chassis.
I bet the cooling and noise levels are just fantastic.
By the looks of it the concept computer they're showing is running three 780 TI's And the cooling module is a combination power supply/water cooling pump and radiator That module is either going to sound like a jet engine or your graphics cards are going to be approaching temperatures near that of the surface of the sun
Honestly, having all of your parts in their own little cases sounds like a cooling nightmare. Not to mention BORING, BORING, BORING. I love being able to see all my glorious hardware from my side-window, illuminated by LED fans
One of those modular pieces had "CPU 01" on the side, implying you can get more than a single CPU?
I'd imagine so.
silently powerful what
By the looks of it the concept computer they're showing is running three 780 TI's And the cooling module is a combination power supply/water cooling pump and radiator That module is either going to sound like a jet engine or your graphics cards are going to be approaching temperatures near that of the surface of the sun
Its fully mineral oil cooled which the cooling tech is the most expensive thing about it. It makes no sound and its more effective at keeping computer components cold than watercooling. Also lasts longer than watercooling.
jesus christ, the razer logo is ugly
I like Razer for one thing, and one thing only. A left handed gaming mouse, at that it's not all that great. Still it's the best option. That aside, I can't see this having a very long life. Since the parts have to integrate, and the connections that they integrate with would undoubtedly become outdated after a while.
Their target audience
I tried searching Google images for "Too lacy" but it brought up nothing that could accuracy represent what that would look like.
If this becomes a thing, it will be really fucking expensive, and they would probably force you to buy a lot more shit, like oh sorry mate, you need to buy an entire new tower if you want that processor.
I don't know what's so hard about going on youtube and watching a idiot proof video about how to get pc parts and put the all together like lego pieces.
