Looks incredible, I was just trying to play Morrowind but couldn't get immersed in it cause of the dated tech, so this would be great.
this is like the black mesa source of elders scrolls.

Morrowind Overhaul is already a good start if you want to play a modernized morrowind.
Amazing, simply amazing, how much effort has been but into this.
Who cares about the graphics when morrowings combat is complete crap? Fix the combat.

seriously? did you not get the part that this is being done on skyrim? did you even watch the video?
bethesda would be seriously stoned if they didn't hire these guys
will it have infinite quests?
seriously? did you not get the part that this is being done on skyrim? did you even watch the video?
I watched it, I assumed they'd carry the combat mechanics over as well.

It's Skyrim's gameplay.
I watched it, I assumed they'd carry the combat mechanics over as well.
Why oh god why would anyone want that.
Even the most hard-ass fans of morrowind agree that the combat is garbage and that you have to be really careful about what you're doing and sometimes have to exploit the game to get past the shitty combat.
Holy damn.

morrowinds mechanics for combat was shit to be honest
The only Elder Scrolls game that I played was Arena from 1994, the first one in series. But I heard that Morrowind was the best one in terms of environment and world in general. So yeah, when (and if) they relase it I'm gonna buy Skyrim just for that :p
this is like the black mesa source of elders scrolls.
Only this is about 100x larger in scale than Black Mesa, and they are basically crazy for even undertaking this.

You should still play the original Morrowind if you have the time to get used to the game's mechanics.

It's much more than just the visuals though. It's the combat, lack of NPC AI + voice acting, and overall clunkiness. The world is still incredible but the mechanics through which you interact with it are just too dated to work, at least for me.
It's interesting to think about the shelf life of games, and how even the best games will be unplayable to kids 10-20 years from now. It's a relatively new problem cause movies and music have so far been timeless
Hopefully full release will be epic like Black Mesa when it first got released.
I'm actually legitimately blown away. To me this was one of those projects you'd hear about but never think they can pull it off.
After seeing this though, what they've managed is pretty incredible!

I couldn't agree more. I was send this by a friend the other day and was totally ecstatic how they not only ported the game, but actually recreated it to modern standards.
It's such a great opportunity to play Morrowind (Sorta) and get a bit more of the TES lore.
I never managed to get the hang of the original game, but not I can actually get a bit of it :v: (I know it won't be the total same, but damn close enough for me)
I find it odd how it's so hard for me to get into vanilla morrowind again.
I mean I got into daggerfall with no problem in 2010, and that's really not that different gameplay wise.
But yeah this looks outstanding. It's nice to see MWs interesting environments in skyrim's engine. I hope they have a more classic character build system with the old skills back, while keeping skyrim's combat.

Not saying that it wouldn't be better, but does not having voice acting really bother you that much?
I've never heard anything about Skywind before, and now I wish I hadnt watched this. yet another incredibly good looking mod I cant wait for

Of course it won't be the same, it will be 10x better.

After being spoiled with voice acting in every game I've played, it's kind of annoying. I was shocked when I didn't hear voice acting in Morrowind and it's one of the reasons I couldn't get into it (and it was generally really clunky).
I actually don't mind the text based conversations. Though I do wish it had less repetition. Like everyone answers all the little questions in the exact same way. Would have been nice to see variety.
I'd have to disagree, hearing what you're reading makes immersion way better and the game much more fulfilling. Though I could definitely deal with it if the game, like I said, wasn't so clunky. Graphics don't bother me, either, but something feels wrong about the game. I also miss the quest marker.
It looks absolutely beautiful in a lot of spots
but there are some repeating textures on the ground I can't help but look at them and cringe
I know it's really stupid considering how impressive pretty much everything else is but that just makes it that much more noticeable
To be fair, all the Elder Scrolls game are guilty of some bad repeating textures on the landscapes, but you don't notice it viewing on the ground.
But yeah it looks worse here. Hope that's not final.

I don't understand why they don't just fix the textures so they tile well.
Looks really awesome. May have to buy Skyrim when it`s released.
