Franklin was on the edge of suicide after finding out that the love of his life is dating a doctor and was so relieved that his buddy came by to see him. Upon rejection he was thrown over the edge and decided that life was not worth living. The fastest way to end his pathetic life was to slam his car into the gas stations fuel pumps, and if he was lucky he would take Trevor out of this realm of life with him.
