What a crap test, it looks more like something akin to a buzzfeed quiz.
What a crap test, it looks more like something akin to a buzzfeed quiz.
It's less like a buzzfeed test and more like some sort of mindwashing trick. That whole whitegoodblackbad thing creeped me the fuck out
"Leave a like for racism" Got me good. I ought to try this test.
they could probably just order the tests backwards to train you one way first and get the exact opposite result
I just took the one of these tests, and I'm apparently slightly racist. Less racist than PewDiePie at least
they could probably just order the tests backwards to train you one way first and get the exact opposite result
except that even if that was the case, the order in which you get those two is randomized with each participant, to eliminate order bias in terms of broader statistics I did this test once, and I think it's pretty legit. The brainwashing argument is completely ridiculous because once again, whether the black or white people are "good" or "bad" is switched halfway through the test and the order is randomized, so there would be no way to even convey the "message" or "instruction" or whatever
Can't be racist if you don't take the test.
I'm pretty racist, as I have strong preference towards chocolate milk over any other. I'd say it's pretty impossible to be 100% not racist
What a crap test, it looks more like something akin to a buzzfeed quiz.
For my psychology course in university, this test is used a lot during studies regarding racism just because it's not that bad of a test. It's all about association.
For my psychology course in university, this test is used a lot during studies regarding racism just because it's not that bad of a test. It's all about association.
I get what it's going for but I just took it and I didn't care about doing it as fast as possible. When it introduces the 4 categories I stopped on each one to check and make sure I was putting it with the correct category. I had to go through the same parts of the test multiple times, probably because I was taking too long. But I wanted to see what it'd do if I showed I was being analytical instead of immediately responsive. It doesn't seem to change anything, still thinks I'm subconsciously racist. I'll have to screw with it more but I think it's a pretty flawed system all together. Only reason I say that is because of the flip flopping of categories and their associated parts. I get it, fucking with association and all that, but it's the exact same thing as the positions for TRUE/FALSE being swapped on a test. I don't think it's particularly reliable because half the test conditions you into one particular layout, and it's suddenly switched. If anything it's more a test that reliably demonstrates what happens when you fuck with people. I mean, no shit people are going to have a tricky time doing a test by association when the test conditions suddenly change. I think it's a fairly predictable result.
i think the test is racist because it doesn't include transraccoons
In the future I wonder if they'll make you take these test in order to graduate/get a job
i think the test is racist because it doesn't include transraccoons
"don't you mean transniggers" ho ho funny repost ho ho ho
Apparently I have "little to no automatic preference" but I'm 90% sure that's just because I got confused with the controls. :v: This test is too weird.

I think that the results of this are quite influenced by the order in which you begin to assign 'good - bad' to. Especially since it looks like its timed, If I started associating 'White people' with 'Bad' first, I'm pretty sure I would just do it on reflex(to get a better time), and when the test asks me to do the opposite, I would obviously fuck up or take longer since I'm used to the other way around.

This isn't so much a test with association, it's more of a test of reflexes and how quickly you can adapt to changing circumstances. It seems to determine your racism by judging how long you spend on each response, which is pointless because when the conditions suddenly change, you are going to stop to fight the reflex response and instead think about it, which is going to hold everything up.
Implicit association tests like this one aren't completely accurate. They tend to be quite biased towards the first category of pairings (white = good and black = bad in the case of this test) due to cognitive inertia. Another thing to take into consideration is own-race bias, which makes it easier for people to recognise faces of their own race (which is exploited by the timed response bit because there will likely be a slight lag when interpreting a black face if you're white and vice versa). Also, these tests tend to have inconsistent results when people retake them. So take this test with a grain of salt.

"good- uhh, white" pewdiepie confirmed racist
How long until theres a bunch of news articles about this.
How long until theres a bunch of news articles about this.
I'd say around 3 days.

It's true that it randomizes the order. Just try the test here, you don't have to fill out anything, just press start test and you'll get the pop-up, sometimes it'll flip the order around. Apparently I'm heavily affected by this subconscious bias. I didn't take the test before it gave me the flipped version that starts out with sorting black people and good to the left. I still got a "strong automatic preference" for white people. Shit fuck. Let's just say I was preconditioned by Pewdiepie's video?
idk man i think it compensates for that i did it as fast as i could, got a few wrong on the second part but i got the "no bias either way" result
The whole point of this test is to compare how long it takes you to sort the faces into the specified categories at the start of each section. You start forming a reflex response. The addition of words is ultimately pointless, it's only there to add another layer of time to each face response because you'll be consciously thinking to make sure you put them in the specified categories. However, the fundamental conditions are the same. Good on left, bad on right (or vice versa). By changing the conditions halfway through (categories now on different sides and require the opposite input) the reflex response becomes useless (which is what it's supposed to measure). All it does is cause confusion.
I'm wondering how they connect a more delayed response with any sort of racism.
Even if it's delayed, it should be the same for each category, if there is a difference in delay, it would mean that they still sort one better than the other.
looks like pewdiepie's racist ways caught up to him
the white-or-good/black-or-bad portion felt like it was designed specifically to condition you to correlate the sides, fucking you up in the later portion. it's less a test of innate racism and more a test of your ability to not form patterns as they're handed to you on a silver platter
