We only had 4 days, but we crammed in 800 miles and managed to get a lot of footage in! I got the job off the back of my Iceland video, which I posted here before and got a fantastic reception. Hope you guys enjoy this one just as much. EDIT: also I might as well plug my facebook page, which I'll be updating with similar stuff as I begin my fledgling career as a crazy hippy adventure videographer. It's amazing how much there is to see on our own tiny island (if you're from the UK). Definitely get out there and check it out :D
Awesome, Scotland is on my list of places to visit for the landscapes. What was your route?
Thanks! This was our route, roughly. 800 miles on the odometer in the van, there was a LOT of driving back and forth over the same stretch to try and get the shot. https://goo.gl/maps/UPfyS If you plan on visiting Scotland... must-sees are Glencoe, the Inner and Outer Hebredes islands (as many as you can), especially Skye (google it) and Glasgow, cause its freaking awesome :D Forget Edinburgh unless you want tartan, shortbread, bagpipes and other tourists. Give me a shout if you're ever here and want some detailed advice/tips/beer buddy
Literally Skyrim
One thing I like is the variety of shots you use. I saw time lapse, tracking shots, still shots, use of a drone, and things I don't even know what they're called. Too often people who make this kind of video rely on only one way to use the camera and it gets very boring and obnoxious. I'm impressed you didn't fall into that trap, as it makes your video actually interesting to watch. I think that it's super cool that you are getting paid to do this. From what I've seen of your work, you are very creative and talented.
This video is seriously top-notch! Great work. I hope you get paid to do more work; I'd love to watch it.

I was climbing 30ft up into trees and wading out into lochs and rivers and shit to try and get some unique shots. Im really glad you appreciated it!
That one shot with the sunbeams at 20 seconds is amazing to watch
Thanks, now I know where to go on my bike tour next summer!
Absolutely breathtaking right from the opening scene. Very nice footage. I love this kind of stuff, looking forward to seeing more!
I went on holiday with my family last year, and instead of going abroad we went up north, to Gairloch and it was one of the best holidays I've ever been on just because of the amazing scenery
That was incredible, dude.
People like you make me proud to call myself a filmmaker
Don't mind If I ask, but what gear did you use to film all these?
Really want to visit scotland and visit all the distilleries there.
Looks just as beautiful as I remember it being! If you don't mind me asking, what camera drone setup do you have? I've been thinking about splashing some £££ on a nice one, and I quite like the shots you got from yours.
If I lived in the UK I'd seriously consider hiring one of those vans. Great video man!
Wow, there are actually still places this beautiful. :o I really need to travel to these places sometime.
Thanks so much guys! I filmed the majority of it on a GoPro Hero 3+ Black edition. Timelapses were shot on a Canon 450D. One or two shots were shot on a Canon 650D, and the rest on a Sony Nex (which has surprisingly great video quality, would recommend for amateur video work). All the shots are great but I would really recommend getting some higher-tier gear, it will make a huge difference when it comes to dynamic range and post editing capabilities. It will make your already amazing shots go up to a whole new level, possibly footage worth thousands and thousands of dollars. The drone shots are amazing ,don't get me wrong, but there is a reason I'm saving up for one that can carry a DSLR as opposed to a go-pro.
You're totally right, I do feel limited by the gear. Sadly I need to keep using it on jobs to be able to afford new kit. I'm aiming to have a GH4 purchased within the next couple of months, the freelance work is going great at the moment so hopefully I'll be able to save up relatively soon. It's gonna cost near £2k though, with a decent lens or two plus all the other bits n bobs, cards, batteries, cases etc etc.

you make the landscape seem so alive
were you using an rc copter or something for the aerial shots?

What do you do for lenses? Thinking of investing in Canon glass with the Metabones speedbooster as I use Canon for stills photography so it'd be good to share lenses. Not cheap though... Also Kondor, aerial stuff is done a DJI Phantom II quadcopter.

It's just that I don't need the autofocus and zoom features of the canon ones. Also have a 14-42mm kit lens that's okay... then a bunch of retro 80's canon FD and Nikon lenses. And yes the Gh4 is not the best for low light
im surprised you got through fort william without killing yourself, that place is a shithole
