penis
That may be so Edit Still doesn't answer his question though
Well if it's war, then I don't see why this should be prohibited. If they weren't enemies, then that's a big problem.
I mean, they should at least be honorable and let him hit the ground before they start firing. The man can hardly defend himself, he's at the mercy of the wind and the soldiers. What if he's unarmed, as well? He'd probably surrender.
Well if it's war, then I don't see why this should be prohibited. If they weren't enemies, then that's a big problem.
you're right, we should just shoot everything that moves, like children.
I laughed at the gibberish in the beginning of the video.
I don't think it would count as a war crime, pilots carry sidearms don't they? They could call him a combatant if they really wanted to. But war crime or not, its a dick move, armed or not the guy probably would surrender. But than what do I know? I have no idea whats going on in the video or where it is or even what technically defines a war crime.
war in itself is a crime
Im almost positive it is a war crime to shoot a downed pilot while he is still in the air. Judging by where this took place though I doubt they care much.
war in itself is a crime
sigh
So much wasted ammo...
War in itself is human nature
Depends. The Geneva convention only applies if both sides have signed it
Only thing I could find about shooting a pilot as a warcrime is
the Articles of the Geneva convention at the time of WWII had no mention of pilots that have bailed out. It was common practice to open fire on any pilot in a descending in a parachute over his homeland since it was assumed he would be put back in the next available plane and shoot at you. It was also a common practice not to shoot at a pilot that bailed out over your territory since he would most likely end up as a POW. However these are not guidelines in the Articles of the Geneva Convention ***
Where did this take place and when?
Where did this take place and when?
Heard its the 2008 Georgia conflict.
I shoot at pilots who eject on Il-2. Does this make me a bad person?
It's just like Behind enemy Lines, they even have a guy in a track suit (who in the movie looks just like Niko bellic).
Depends. The Geneva convention only applies if both sides have signed it
Geneva applies to both sides if only one side has signed it. But they may have had a good reason to shoot him(That plane may have strafed the convoy and killed a few people, so revenge is one), despite the fact he may have good information.
War in itself is human nature
War is a manifestation of political struggles. The factors that lead to those political struggles aren't intrinsic in humans. Call me an idealist all you want but at least I don't oversimplify things.

Judging from the comments that was actually there own plane and pilot. :v: He survived btw
You're not supposed to shoot at medics either but people do that. Geneva conventions are really only followed when it comes to using like chemical weapons and stuff, things that can be completely traced to the government. It sucks but hey, war fucking sucks in the first place.
That was terrible. I mean, even if the pilot wasn't going to surrender, what sane person would think it's a good idea to shoot an unarmed man FALLING FROM THE SKY?
As I mentioned earlier, milkandcookie, that 'Unarmed pilot' could very well have killed and horrible maimed your friends who've saved you many times.
I find this war crime stupid: Shot 10 enemies - have a medal. An enemy helpless pilot ejecting out of a plane: "Can't shoot me lol, it's against the *rules*"
Shooting at ejected pilot. Warcrime?
Nope. Just target practice.
It's not a war crime because they're shooting at their own guy.
War... Where the young and stupid are tricked by the old and bitter into killing each other...
