Imagine playing this for 5 hours straight.
honestly looks like a good way to get in shape

Ugh Sunday nights ArmAII missions with thus unit took a minimum of 2 hours or some shit.. it would kill me.
*This kills the armchairgeneral*
Omg imagine playing DayZ and trying to run from zombies and players
This would be great for a new Sonic game
-nvm video awnsered question.
On-topic however, this seems like it would kill me.
I think i'd use the hell out of this, you'd get in shape while playing a game you enjoy, but starting out at first for most people would be like "*HUFF HUFF* GUIS WAIT UP I NEED TO CATCH MY *HUFF* BREATH". which could be annoying and entertaining.
He is crouching ingame. But then I would totally use it with the occulus rift.
if youre looking around with the goggles, does that mean you could just aim your gun anywhere and it would just shoot wherever youre looking at?

Actually, head is separated from body in ARMA2.
Wow, the fat attacks you get in the ACE2 mod from carrying too much would become a reality with this. Except this time you wouldn't be able to tell your team that you're passing out :v:

More like imagine having to go literally 5km to the next town by foot
Looks like the sensitivity or whatever needs to be turned up, his pace doesn't seem to match the game to me
Or it's because the fish eye effect is misleading

thats when you walk instead of running, it'd give people an actual reason to take their time!
I really want one of these. It would finally give me a way to get fit while retaining my "sit around all day and play videogames" lifestyle.
Man, I'd kill to see someone play a game like Mirror's Edge with this kind of setup. I feel like you could get really immersed in that game and shit your pants when you fall off a building.
a constant gamer would have to eat cake every 5 minutes just to use this regularly without turning into a skeleton
Going on an Op with a realism unit for 2 hours would put your ass in shape

He's crouch running, and Arma by default has a narrow field of view because of the long range engagements that take place in it.

I tried to envision this with a young kid fucking booking it. Like whirring engine sounds from the poor machine as he's full on sprinting as hard as he can.
And then his mom comes in the room, angry about the noise and yells at him. And the kid just yells back: NOT NOW, MOM. I GOTTA GO FAST!
I don't get how he's gonna crouch or go prone, I imagine with OR it'd feel really unnatural to move while prone too. That, and how's sights, aiming and firing (As well as the millions of buttons A2 has) handled? Does the OR track head movement while the prop gun handles weapon facing and the direction on the treadmill handle bodily heading?
How much does that treadmill thingy cost, or is it still in development?
That would actually be kinda cool for some sort of ultra-realism combat.
Winning campaign would require you to have the stamina to flank enemies quickly, and outmaneuver them.
Also some bitchin cardio workout at the same time.
Has some really interesting implications for a lot of games if you actually use it regularly. Instead of a stamina bar that defines how fast and how far you can run, you're dealing with your own physical limits.
Would be interesting to try to play a game like Day Z or Skyrim where it's often 'can I outrun this motherfucker' that defines whether or not you die. Also with team games you'd get a great sense of people lagging behind which would add some nice character
Of course if you're going into a game looking for a total escape from real life it's not ideal, but I'd have some fun with it
It's still in development, but its' estimated to be around 300-600$

I don't know why, but I'd like to try a flight sim like this
or at least a driving sim
what I find funny is that the people who are so far gone that they see this and think "if i had this, i would be skinny in no time! i need this!!" probably wouldn't even fit in that little hole they have for the person.

The faster you actually run, the faster you go.

Ususally you don't get to walk much while flying a plane or driving a car
Oh god.
I would be dead tired after 1 hour of walking alone...

More like 5 minutes.
The amount of running you gotta do in ARMA is the same as a soldier in a combat zone.
