Who knows. There must be a reason of some kind to reversing. And he was not trying to cut across the road but avoid the truck as it was coming from behind at high speed, making them go over to the other side while rolling over.

It's difficult to tell from the video but the impression it gives me is that the driver may have just barely passed a turn he needed to make and didn't want to have to detour to get back to it.

I'm reminded of a contraption I saw in gmod where a camera was placed inside a shipping container that was decorated like a bedroom. Someone pushed a button and the container flipped over and in the process anything that was not welded down was sucked out of the container. :v:
