When I was in Kindercare or in the early years of Elementary School, nothing gets me more riled up than watching Thomas and Friends. This series is already 26 years old and I could still remember a few of the vivid episodes I watched when I was a kid.
The series itself dated back to 1942 when Reverend W. Awdry created Thomas the Tank Engine as a simple toy to give to his son who had the measles and had to stay in a hospital during the War. He then wrote a book which soon branched out to a very, long running series of children's stories and soon, a TV Series.
This link below shows one of the many songs they would make.

Note the models they used.
Now when I had to watch TV with my little cousin he tuned it when they were airing the newest Thomas and Friends episode. It blew me away as I saw that their faces were animated and they exhibit more emotion and had separate voices for each of the characters. This was a huge jump from masks and small scale models of engines, at least 90% of it is not computer animation I would guess.
The link below takes you to dailymotion.com, not restricted to copyrights shows one of the new episodes featuring the CGI Faced engines. And the Humans actually MOVE!

I'm curious as to how big this series really is, it's branched out in Britain, Japan, and in the US. Discuss?

I'm afraid I don't remember the one in the OP, but this motherfucker on the other hand...

You in the US had George Carlin, we had Ringo Star :smug:
Is anyone getting the dailymotion videos blacking out at random intervals?
Featuring the first pilot episode that started it all.

I remember that ginger kid from the intro!
You in the US had George Carlin, we had Ringo Star :smug:
Ah, well I'm not in the US so I would have seen the Ringo Starr version.
Only reason I know George Carlin narrated it is because I read his autobiography or, as he preferred to call it, sortabiography, 'Last Words'
One episode I remember faintly, is something about falling wet lumber.
I have a huge book with all the stories in. I'll get pics of it later.
Who is Thomas?

Alec Baldwin was my favourite narrator. This show was beast.
I loved this show, I had a bunch of Thomas the Tank engine toys. I still have them to this day.(mostly because I couldn't sell them because the used lead based paints :v:)
