holy god I haven't made it very far in to that game because I don't care too much for it but those levels it's like Nintendo was very much aware of the immense problem of not being able to tell where Mario would land because of the fixed camera perspectives and lack of depth perception (a problem 3D land did not have because of the 3D slider) and instead of fixing it, they designed an entire level around it what the fuck guys
There are times Mario clearly lands on solid surface but slides backwards off it, what the fuck. This game would drive me crazy, it looks like playing I wanna be the guy.

The game's level design is based on the level design of 3D Land, which was in turn designed with the 3D slider in mind. Got a part of the level that's hard to do? Turn on the slider and gain depth perception! You can now tell where Mario's going to land! In 3D World the same design philosophy is kept, but there's no 3D slider. So more often then not, Mario will end up shooting off in a direction you thought was safe and fall off the ledge, or you'll hit the side of a platform instead of the top of it. These problems are assuaged by the Tanooki and Cat power-ups, which allow you to slow-fall and climb up walls respectively. If you're just vanilla Mario though? You're basically boned. Any given stage can go from "baby easy" to "FUCK HARD" with the loss of one of the power-ups. There's very rarely an in-between.
Is it just me, or is Mario played by a completely different actor than usual? I haven't played a Mario game in ages, but that does not sound like fucking Mario at all.
i dont think i could ever have the patience for that shit
I always enjoy these death reels because they start off so normal then devolve into maddened gibberish.
I liked this one, but I eventually just started to skip around and watch the ending. It was funny the first few times, but it got old.
When the fuck did Super Mario become Dark Souls?
I wish this game had Wario in it. Wario needs to be in another adventure instead of making microgames.
I watched this live, it was a combination of hilarity and sadness, because there were some times where he just tried so hard and got so excited and then just his hopes got crushed.

The part with the alternating disappearing platforms reminds me of that one bit in Guacamelee, when you're trying to get the final mask piece. Eugh, fucking obnoxious and cheaply-difficult level design, right there. Also, they made Rosalina a playable character? That's neat, I guess. [editline]19th April 2014[/editline]
I wish this game had Wario in it. Wario needs to be in another adventure instead of making microgames.
Wario World needs and deserves a sequel. That game was goddamned amazing, nothing quite like piledriving monsters into the ground face-first. Hell, it even had the 3D isometric view thing long before the Super Mario 3D (Noun) series of games, and it worked better as well.
When the fuck did Super Mario become Dark Souls?
The main game really isn't all that hard. But once you beat it? There's like three special worlds in a row of bullshit, and after that, a fourth one with THIS monstrosity of a level as the only level of the world. And you can only reach it by beating every single level, getting every single Green Star in the game, every single Stamp but the last five I think, and getting the gold flagpole at the end of every single level by hitting the top of the flagpole. And that's not even 100%; to get the five last Stamps for that 100% completion, you have to beat every level with all five characters (and you only unlock Rosalina, the fifth character, halfway through the first special world).
What horrid level design...
With the switching blocks, there's literally only two ways to survive that as far as I can tell if you're not on perfect/lucky reflexes: have a Tanooki Suit to slow down your falls, or spin-jump for a little bit of a hover down if you don't have a power-up. I'm pretty sure Champion's Road doesn't have any checkpoints, so losing your power-ups means you're probably fucked in that regard. And spin-jumps still require you to spin once really fast, which the average player probably won't have reflexes to do in time with what short windows of opportunity you get with those damn blocks. God, Nintendo's level designers were complete bastards on this one. [editline]19th April 2014[/editline] And of course when I mention the Tanooki Suit, all it took was for him to bring it and one-shot the stage. :v:
love how full retard he gets when he dies
That looks much harder and less enjoyable than anything in smg. I beat the perfect run in like 23 tries or so. But doesn't this have the tanooki suit? should make it much easier.
I felt like a real champion when I finally beat this level It's retarded because if you're not Rosalina or if you don't have a tanooki suit then it's basically impossible
Cawrl, CAAAAAWRL.
1:57 made me lost my shit
I watched him die so many times I was able to tell that the death tune is made with a TB-303.
tbh he's just really bad
to be fair he tried using mario with no power ups his first time doing it which will not bring you any joy if you don't now whats you're doing. the tanooki helped me beat it my first time, though you don't really need it here is a ideo of someone doing it with peach.
I couldn't continue watching this. It started to infuriate me watching him die to the same degree it would anger me if I was the one playing.
Same voice actor since Mario Teaches Typing
Actually Charles Martinet has been Mario's voice actor since "Mario's Game Gallery" (Better known as Mario's FUNdamentals). The original Mario Teaches Typing didn't have him.
YOU MAY FIND YOUSELF BEHIND THE WHEEL OF A LARGE OOOOOFUCK

And that's only because they made it as a level thats MEANT to be difficult as fuck. It's not a normal level.

That's seriously the only time I ever miss 3D, besides the occasional quick switch to it out of curiosity.
Doesn't the shadow tell you where mario is going to land? Even still that level design does seem pretty tricky.
