I have yet to see an explanation for how the sun works in the mind of a flat earther.
I think the sun is a light bulb, shining a cone of light down on the flat circle of ground we call earth. It follows a track across the flat, or globe shaped, sky. The moon is also on a railway track in the sky. When the sun sets, the sun has moved so far away that the cone of light is out of our reach. This creates an illusion of the sun going down below the horizon because optical illusion.
In fact any visual clue that the earth is a sphere is an optical illusion. From space it appears the earth is a sphere but optical illusion. In fact the entire universe can be closely described by General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics but optical illusion. Also they are lying. It's obvious it's a conspiracy and they are lying and optical illusion how much more proof do you need?
Also New Zealand is horribly skewed in any flat earth diagram but that doesn't matter. Who lives there anyway.

The FE:ers explanation is even more brilliantly simple actually: Making the assumption that Earth is flat (or indeed making any assumptions about Earth) based upon what we can observe in the rest of the universe, like how planets tend to be spheres, is inherently wrong. It's a "non-sequitur argument", in other words "just because it applies to other planets doesn't mean we can assume the same applies to Earth".

They think the best form of defence is attack. There are people in the FE forums who are masters at debate (mas-debaters) who despite their stance on the shape of the world will take on anyone foolish enough to argue. "Right and wrong is irrelevant, you must argue correctly!" - An idiot
It will get to a point where the rest of the world crushes them for being so stupid, and they will say "See, rational thinking and arguing came through in the end, I'm glad I could make a difference".

Weren't there Russian troops in Crimea who took selfies and uploaded them to social media? I can imagine the same thing happening with the ice wall and the edge of he world. The amazing thing about conspiracy theorists is how competent they assume the government is.
The funniest thing about flat earth theorists is that most of them can't even agree to the same story. Some say the earth is flat and when you get to the edge you get teleported to the other side so you can navigate the earth. Others say there's a wall of ice or metal being hidden by the government.
