70+ car pile up in Slovenia from the other day, couldn't find a YouTube mirror. https://vid.me/e/FmD1
I guess people need some kind of PSA if they're too stupid to figure it out for themselves: "If you can't see shit, don't drive as though you can, you idiots"
Driving through thick fog is no joke, had to do it at like 3AM and I was on absolute edge going at least 10 miles under the speed limit and was still having trouble seeing right in front of me with the high beams on, I have no idea how people have such a lead foot when conditions are as bad as this.

High beams actually make visibility worse in thick fog / heavy rain, because the light just reflects off it That's why fog lights are pointed down at the road, so you can see the ground easier without blinding yourself

[editline]1st February 2016[/editline] These god damn ninja's these days. [editline]1st February 2016[/editline] It's easier to demonstrate it with smoke, you can see here the smoke reflecting his high beams back at him. It doesn't excuse anything because they could still use the meter in the car and also should be driving much slower than what they perceive anyway.
if you say anything what includes "i don't know how" when driving a vehicle you need to get the fuck out of the driver's seat [editline]1st February 2016[/editline] also seniles shouldn't drive

We have RFS come by each house to check for occupants.
This happened near me on saturday and my father went few minutes before that crash down that road. My father could be dead now.... Also if you didn't know, 4 people died.
One of the issues is that fog messes with speed perception, so by vision only people will think they are a lot slower than they are.
Never understood that. Not like I don't believe that, I just can't imagine it: I never had any issues just feeling how fast I'm going no matter the conditions. Blizzards, heavy rains, thick fog...
if you say anything what includes "i don't know how" when driving a vehicle you need to get the fuck out of the driver's seat
I have a feeling that trying to get the fuck out of the driver's seat while the vehicle is moving can end badly.

Blizzards, heavy rains, thick fog... [...]
I suspect it has to do with a lower intensity of the stimulus due to lower contrast, but that's really just a guess on my part. There was an experiment on this some years ago where they told people to hold a speed in a video game, so I suspect if you can feel it otherwise it's a different matter for most people. IInm the effect was somewhere in the low double digit percentages on average.

Our school's teacher's ex student died (i think she even graduated 1 year ago). The said teacher was tearing up throught all of our class today. School's secretary's daughter also died in the crash. Shit is heavy
'Turn your headlights on' 'I don't know how' wow.
Jesus christ, why are they letting the old lady drive? She doesn't even know where the fucking headlights are and she's going full speed through thick fog and complaining she doesn't like it. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT FUCKING SLOW DOWN.
But then someone else might crash in you if you go too slow on a highway. So it's very risky to drive in this situation.
I don't think driving fast on the highway in thick fog is a good idea just in case someone else is driving fast.
But then someone else might crash in you if you go too slow on a highway. So it's very risky to drive in this situation.
It's much better for a moving object to rear-end another moving object moving at a lower speed than smashing head-first into a stopped object at a higher speed, imo.
It's much better for a moving object to rear-end another moving object moving at a lower speed than smashing head-first into a stopped object at a higher speed, imo.
Still, that will result in 2 stationary objects with someone driving in to them at high speed
Best thing to do is not drive at all. Me and my mum were on our way back from a gig when the fog got so thick that, in combination with it being night, we literally couldn't see the road. Had to pull into a layby for over an hour before it cleared.
And she's wearing sunglasses. Absolutely ridiculous.
and the way she just waves her fucking arms around after crashing due to retardedness gah
Adjusting your speed to how far you can see is like, one of the basics of driving.

Pull over and stop as far away from the road as physically possible. Wherever you're going can wait a bit, at least you'll make sure to reach it in one piece. Unless that's something super extreme, but that's another thing.
"Turn your headlights on and pull over." "I don't know how." ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?
Most cars have light sensitive automatic headlights now, no? She probably just depends on those. Still pretty stupid but it's not a situation in which she just never uses the headlights.
christ, nobody had their lights on at all? i mean even if its bright out, the tail lights will at least tell the people behind you "hey there is a car here!" [editline]1st February 2016[/editline] i've driven through whiteout blizzards and being able to see the car infront of you is like one of the most critical things, if you can't see the car infront of you its probably time to slow the fuck down
around here people drive like this through blizzard conditions yet when it's barely a light rainy mist in the fall/spring everybody goes 20 under I can understand a pile-up when it's icy or harsh rainy conditions but this many people plowing through dense fog hard enough to cause some of these wrecks is a painful reminder that road safety relies not only on yourself being a good driver, but everyone else, so you need to be extra cautious when presented with situations like this. I don't understand how anybody's arguing that driving normal highway speeds is a safe (let alone preferable) course of action
God, I wouldn't know what to do even if I stopped before the pile up. Do you get out and risk trying to run across the motorway and hope a car doesn't come speeding out of the fog and kill you or do you stay in the car and risk getting slammed?
