If this shit is true, then holy shit.
Come on valve, now's your chance to get one of the best videogame creators of all time on your team.

"MGS6 now on steam - Pre-order now to get "Commander's Cap" and "Sneaker's Spypiece" in Team Fortress 2! Now launching with paid mods - Pay 15 dollars to have Otacon dress like a schoolgirl!"
I'd rather see Kojima go to Treasure than to any western dev or something like Valve now. But while the information is anonymous, goddamn does it smell fishy if the CEO has ties to gambling and starts reformatting nearly the entire company towards 'family-friendly' gambling.

You're implying that valve is a video game company

I honestly have always wished for a spiritual successor to MGS, although focusing authenticity - as MGS does, mind you - without all the super-ridiculous shit.
Why does everyone want Kojima to go to x company? Why not take Kojima Productions and go indie?
konami aren't really squandering on Bemani other than DDR. series like sound voltex and beatmania are still getting plenty of attention, and they took legal action against multiple networks for their bemani games in the US showing that they clearly still have some kind of reasonable affection for the sales and evolution of those series in SEA. DDR just has a dying fanbase.
I can't wait for Metal Gear Pachinko:Tactical Money-Wasting Action
Makes sense but why would the CEO start making cuts before the gambling bill is passed? Wouldn't it make more sense to wait until its passed and then make cuts?
he's moving to moby dick studios
If Kojima quits, he would quit the entire game industry and go into the movie industry since all the way back at Metal Gear Solid 1 he already said he would love to be in the movie business to create movies.

I don't see how that would work. What's the minimum time that games from Kojima are in development? 4 years? They wouldn't be able to make big games without financial aid.

just the one, and that network had a policy of not allowing anything anywhere near konami's home turf in SEA.
and yeah, DDR's getting shafted at the moment, you just have to look at MAX. (period) and even Over The Period's fucking stupid Perfect Attack to see that they clearly don't want to put effort into content

as far as i'm aware the arcades with custom networks got C&D'd along with PW.
i know that it didn't directly affect SEA, but Konami wanted to keep the brand name up in japan or something (probably?), along with ensuring the legitimacy of R1 in the US

kojima is going to co-develop godus 2 :)

Well of course, and they could get that funding by partnering with other companies.
He wouldn't be the first. For example, Masahiro Sakurai left HAL to form his own indie studio, Sora Ltd. Almost all of Sora's games have been developed in partnership with Nintendo, but they still remain an independent studio who make their own decisions on what games they want to make.
I hear that tactic of "firing" in Japanese companies by making the work conditions so bad that they quit themselves is actually quite common.
So has there been no word yet on what exactly would happen with MGO 3?
I could see it working on PCs if they really wanted it to but in terms of hosting their own masters and stuff, if Konami is trying to get rid of them then who will that fall to?
No word yet. It's really depressing to think about. Here's hoping they allow people to host their own servers on the PC version (though I'm sure people will find a way either way). It'd be nice if an MGO lasted for once, though I don't have high hopes for the console versions lasting very long. Konami will probably support them for a year and then kill them all.
I wonder if this means Konami will shut down Peace Walker HD soon.

There's a pretty big stigma against firing people in Japan. It has lead to quite a few companies going under because the executives weren't willing to fire people for downsizing. Making people quit is seen, by some people, to be a less shameful act than just firing them.

it's pretty common because it means the company, at least in america, doesn't have to pay for unemployment.
Silent Hills is canceled?
Fuck that, that looked like it was going to be awesome.

Yep, and it probably happened after he finalized this video, but it's no longer word of mouth - Konami PR has confirmed that it's dead. http://kotaku.com/its-official-silent-hills-is-cancelled-1700379816
I can't even begin to imagine what Konami has plans for future Metal Gear titles.
will have carppy MG:S Mobile game's and Silent Hill's Game's.

Correct me of I'm wrong but while gambling is technically illegal in Japan there are a few loopholes and exceptions in the law. This is the reason why Pachinko parlours can legally exist despite being what's essentially a mini-casino.

Such a big stigma against it apparently that there was a whole side plot in Yakuza 4 about some guy who would rather run his company into the ground than downsize it.
as far as i'm aware the arcades with custom networks got C&D'd along with PW.
it was just PW, I'm not aware of anyone else getting C&D'd (not going into specifics here)
I just don't get it. I don't understand. Kojima was the best thing to ever happen in Konami.
Why would they not want him or his brilliant ideas?
It's like shooting yourself in the foot. what the fuck?
I just don't get it and I never will and I could talk for hours about how it hurts my brain trying to wrap my mind around their decision.
This perplexes me more than I can even put into words.

Konami still makes a lot of money off their Soccer games and some weird gambling game in Japan. They know people will still buy Metal Gear with or without Kojima.
They'll probably give Metal Gear to some western team and let that run its course.
New Metal Gears will have the tagline "A Hideous Konami Game"
For the love of god I hope MGS5 truly isn't affected and gets released without problems. That game so far looks like the stealth and military game I was wishing for for so long.
