Are those really still prerendered backgrounds?
Probably wouldn't really be the same game anymore without them.
Big thing going for me here is that I can grab this baby on steam. Ohhhh yeah!
Still never understood why they didn't give 2 and 3 the HD treatment......i mean 3 was probably my favourite game on hard mode to get the amazing pistol and shotgun from Nemesis but he used make me jump out my skin when he just appeared.

Wouldn't it be nice to see a remake of Alone in the Dark, too? That was before Resident Evil came to be and copied the idea.
So this is just the Gamecube Version HD then?
God that first zombie, pale face that turns around still creeps me the hell out
I still wish they'd go ahead and remake RE2. That's by far my favorite RE and it's not as accessible to new fans anymore.
Probably wouldn't really be the same game anymore without them.
i heard that this game lets you play with either tank controls or RE4 over the shoulder mode. might have been a rumor though.
Behold the laziest and most pointless fucking "remake" ever. They didn't even bother actually making it widescreen because that'd require rendering the backgrounds again, so instead it's zoomed in and letter-boxed so you see less stuff than before.
i heard that this game lets you play with either tank controls or RE4 over the shoulder mode. might have been a rumor though.
If that's true, I'm going to have a hell of a time playing this, and I will own three versions of RE1.
God that first zombie, pale face that turns around still creeps me the hell out
Resident Evil 2 edition is still the worst when it fucking pops up every time you continue the game
I don't get it, where does any of this look like its using prerendered backgrounds It looks like the Gamecube version, which iirc, didn't use prerendered anything but cutscenes.
i heard that this game lets you play with either tank controls or RE4 over the shoulder mode. might have been a rumor though.
Doubt it. Its pretty much impossible to get the "over the shoulder" camera's to work decently in the narrow hallways of RE1. Plus it would require them to get rid of the pre-rendered background which they din't.
What do you mean? I mean I understand the remake part, but what do you mean by accessible?
Resident Evil 2 isn't available on the Playstation Store and the only decent version of the game (and only decently priced) is on PS1, which less and less people own (same for the PS2).

[editline]1st September 2014[/editline] What do you mean? I mean I understand the remake part, but what do you mean by accessible?
I'm pretty sure those really detailed backgrounds were all a mix of pre-rendered and hand-tweaked for detail, with live effects happening like shadows and such overtop to further enhance the illusion. The REmake was actually pretty damn good about making it not look so obviously pre-rendered, especially in comparison to the other pre-rendered RE games. However, when this HD rerelease of the REmake was first announced, people noticed that Capcom didn't use the original uncompressed and high-quality resources for the environment and backgrounds, like Square-Enix did with the Final Fantasy X remaster; instead, they just took the already-compressed graphics from the Gamecube game, and slapped an HD filter over it to make it look 'modern' along with tweaking the lighting and cleaning up or sharpening the textures on models. Maybe they've improved it after criticism, maybe not, but if the stupid letterboxing 'scrolling screen feature' remains, then they're probably not going to fix the backgrounds issue.
Doubt it. Its pretty much impossible to get the "over the shoulder" camera's to work decently in the narrow hallways of RE1.
There is a bonus level in Resident Evil 5 that lets you play through the mansion of the first game with the over the should perspective but if you try to use the main door a couple times it switches back to fixed camera angles.
i heard that this game lets you play with either tank controls or RE4 over the shoulder mode. might have been a rumor though.
Nope. You either have the original tank controls, or more modern 'move in any direction' controls by choice. There's no over-the-shoulder cam, it'd be physically impossible to do so because they're still using pre-rendered backgrounds. This is basically a relatively low-effort rerelease, although if someone likes Resident Evil or never got to play the REmake before, then it still works I suppose.

As if they got rid of the live action cutscene at the start, bollocks.
Resident Evil 2 isn't available on the Playstation Store
Yes it is. All 3 PS1 games are.
Yes it is. All 3 PS1 games are.
Not in the French store then, I just checked.
Not in the French store then, I just checked.
Huh that's funny because when I check the French PSN Store page there is a fuckin bundle that includes all 3 games. https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/fr-fr/jeux/resident-evil-1-2-and-3-bundle/cid=EP0102-NPEJ00136_00-B000000000000377?smcid=pdc:fr-fr:pdc-search:ps%20store:null:null Weird how you could miss that when all I had to do was search "resident evil" in the PSN store. [editline]1st September 2014[/editline] And all the games show up individually. This is literally just RE Zero upscaled.
This is literally just RE Zero upscaled.
RE Zero and REmake are different games
RE Zero and REmake are different games
Kinda funny how many people think they are the same game. RE: Zero is a prequel, for those people that are unable to do their research, and is only available on Gamecube and it also got a Wii port which isn't that great. Although, there is a a chance they may port it over now that they are doing an HD port of REmake. I wouldn't get my hopes up tho.
I'm just glad I can get REmake on different systems now
I might actually pass out if 2 and 3 make it to an HD remake. I going to get this one, theres no question about that. I had also read that Capcom is now putting Resident Evils future totally in the hands of the fans. Please fans don't fuck this up.
