Webster actually did a video on why Dord was added to the dictionary. At the time, the way you would submit words was to space each letter out. It was submitted as "D or d" since it can be used either way, but an editor thought he meant "D o r d" but forgot a space. Like sight, language, emotion, history. For me, I find it much easier to make space, the completely ridiculous, and exotic interesting. But making common things interesting is something I enjoy. Of course it's just my opinion. I'm not someone versed well in language, so I like language videos. Tom Scott has a really good series on language.
