So after seeing how mediocre the previous read about the Tacoma Woman did compared to the first two, I decided to be more careful about choosing the next bit to do a reading off of. Then a fellow VA addressed me to a monologue about font supremacy, and...well...

...I apologize in advance...
-snip im dumb-
What the fuck is this?
A dramatized reading about the font Comic Sans. The monologue was written by Mike Lacher as an exaggerated over the top dramatic but deep down comedic piece. Judging by the Dumb you rated it as, I am assuming it was not your cup of tea? If so, is there anything you feel needs work?
Voice acting is fucking superb!

Oh, that's what it is.
Oh, that's what it is.
You clearly did not enjoy listening to it, which means you have a distinct reason to dislike it. So why not simply state what made it dumb to you? I can do more with legitimate criticism than:
What the fuck is this?
See, I do, in fact, find constructive criticism informative. So when I ask an individual why they did not enjoy something I have made or recorded, I'm being sincere since if there is in fact, water to their claim, I will try to take their notes to heart and perhaps even implement them in a future read.
Why is Comic Sans demonized so much? I'm not following the bandwagon and am legitly curious.

Are you serious?
Do you want all of your papers looking like it wanted to be written by a 6 year old?
Why is Comic Sans demonized so much? I'm not following the bandwagon and am legitly curious.
Because full of themselves graphic designers and typographers get incredibly anal frustrated when people in a certain field of work where knowledge of typefaces, leading and kerning is not necessary, use the font on "keep off" signs and in children's exhibitions at museums.
Why is Comic Sans demonized so much? I'm not following the bandwagon and am legitly curious.
Because they prefer 73 weights of Stick-Up-My-Ass Helvetica, and are jealous whenever Comic Sans bangs the Prom Queen in the back of the woodshop.
Sounds more like the godfather or sopranos font.
Truth be told, I had just finished re-watching the third season finale of Boardwalk Empire, and whenever I read this aloud, I couldn't help but think back to Bobby Cannavale's character Gyp Rosetti, and this particular scene earlier in the season of him, well.....screaming at God:
Its a stupid bandwagon so don't try following it
Disliking people who use the font for serious occasions is one thing
People who actually hate the font? What the fuck
I agree, I write all of my papers in helvetica, or something similar since it has to be serious. But just to piss my hipster friend's off, I use Comic Sans for everything else :v:
[sp] Also it looks great on Steam[/sp]
Fantastic voice acting.

Because there's no reason to use it when you can use JOKERMAN
Jokerman easily the most underrated font
More work by him!

I'm tempted to make an essay on quantum physics exclusively on Comic Sans just to piss everyone off and prove I can still make a point, ignoring what the text LOOKS like and instead focusing on the CONTENT the text is used with.
Your priorities are skewed if you want to hang yourself over a FONT, christ.

While I appreciate the kind words, I think most people weren't particularly fond of that previous entry. Perhaps this might be more to some folks likings since it involves a robot watching 2 girls 1 cup, heh:

All this needs is some kinetic typography in Comic Sans.
Comic Sans isn't appealing to look at. Ever.
It's annoying (not infuriating, but annoying) to look at.
Hehe, thank you kindly for the new tag, staff. *To be honest, I wasn't even aware that's what they were for*
Your voice makes my ears feel good.
[editline]26th January 2013[/editline]
Going through some of your others, at times you sound a bit like Steve Blum.
Heh, admittedly it's pretty common practice to try and borrow certain nuances and tones from other more renown voice actors to try and implement them into your own voice and hopefully come up with something entirely your own.
It was in your previous thread that you mentioned having done some semi-professional work before, was it not?
Either way, I feel that a few years from now I'm likely going to be hearing your voice more, considering your talent as a voice actor.
More or less. These days, I've been digging more and more to integrating *or trying to integrate* into more higher end projects. Apps, commercials, games, and pilots every now and then. It's all about the work one puts into getting their voice out there and auditioning wherever opportunity pops its' glorious head.
So between the time I posted this and today, this recording has gotten me cast in two separate flash games, both paying surprisingly. Y'know, I'm starting to think that maybe recording these ridiculous monologues wasn't such a loony idea after all, hehe.

I remember David Carson, a pretty famous designer, did an entire article in Wingdings.
Couldn't find a better picture.

Would it be sad to say this was a bold move on his part? *Yes, I'm fully aware that bold is a form of font. It was a very unfunny pun on my end, and I apologize*.
I suppose in retrospect, professionalism is paramount in any job force one wishes to be a part of. I certainly wouldn't use it when working on anything of importance, such as a letter of recommendation, an application, an audition, etc.
Fact is, comic sans is just too cute a font to be taken seriously, hence why I guess said individuals detest it. Still, the fact of the matter remains, you don't see any monologues about Helvetica or Arial laying around, right?
