I've noticed Clock Tower has been getting a lot of attention suddenly, Project Scissors might be something to look into in the future. I just finished Haunting Ground on Halloween, very enjoyable game and I'm not really big into horror. I highly suggest people look into that game if they can.
I'm glad this game is getting attention again I have a real vivid memory of this game, I remember me and my brother asking my parents to rent us a PS1 from blockbuster (bring back some memories?) and this game. It literally scared the shit out of me as a kid unlike other game, just the random nature of the game and the fact that it is point and click. I had forgotten about the game until about 5 years ago while I was dreaming I had a nightmare[sp]and in the nightmare a guy got his head cut off by one of the hands on a clocktower which is a scene in the game.[/sp]I immedietaly woke up at 3:00 in the morning and looked it up.
at 3:40 when he called out "joey" (which is my name) i pissed my fucking pants and almost fell out of my chair i got startled so bad this game video almost killed me. halloween is intense.

Also is it sad that an amateur youtube video maker managed to get the essence of horror atmosphere perfect in the space of 20 seconds at the end of his video better than most modern horror film makers do within the space of 90 minutes?
I thought this was AVGN [sp]DISSAPOINTEEED[/sp]
Lost all faith in the guy when he said to play Tomb Raider 2013 rather than Tomb Raider 1996 I mean seriously? Tank controls aren't this horrible compromise for a lack of a full 3rd person camera, they're an integral part to a lot of horror games, and clocktower's not the first game to use the limitations of its technology to its advantage. The lack of control and inability to fight things effectively is a huge part of the horror aspect of Silent Hill and Resi 1, sure, but even games like Tomb Raider had elements of this; you're not super effective in combat, so you've got to be careful. [editline]2nd November 2014[/editline] Unrequited tension is an aspect of it, but it's not the only part of horror. Even Silent Hill, the game that everyone cites as the "unrequited tension" game has moments of calm and moments of horror, and there's far more to making that work than just unrequited tension.
It's integral more than most other aspects. Regardless the point still stands filmmakers are failing horribly and have been for some time to nail horror beyond jump scares and useless build-up sequences.

It doesn't fit within the setting/gameplay and it was probably more due to the fact that the PS1 didn't have a second joystick to control the camera with.
I think a lot of programming and mathematical methods not being established is why controls and cameras were so bad back then. I wouldn't blame it so much on vision of gameplay, as a technical limitation for the time.
The new 60 fps limit is certainly nice when you experience it during regular use, interesting video
I think its shit. Great review tho
