Recently, there was a moddb give-away contest for booster trooper. 100 keys were given to the first 100 people who would spread the word of Booster Trooper on Twitter or Facebook. The key is activated on STEAM and you can try out the beta.
I tried out the game a couple of days ago. Since it's in beta testing, there aren't too many people around playing it, but I managed to find 2 guys to play with.
The game is interesting, it's something different than the usual fps games. I don't play side scrolling games, but this one seems actually fun. At first, I had some "orientation" problems and learning how to move, but it turned out to be quite easy to play. I can only imagine how fun it is to play with 12 players.
Overall, it's a nice game to relax yourself with.

I got a key from Moddb yesterday, this game has a long way to go. It feels quite dull at the moment but I'll wait and see what the devs do with the game.
The best Soldat-like game that I have ever played is Crash Commando. It's really fun and they have added some nice twists to the traditional sidescroller shooters. Like the fact that there are basically two layers on each map and you can walk over to the other side. Some special stationary guns can even shoot across. Etc..
