I love these, it's really the worst the internet has to offer (constant to a fault weirdness with any criticism being hammered out). I still like TVTropes though, the army of spergs is great at picking out stuff you might've missed.

I still go on it because I can spend hours reading articles. It wasn't until I read the troper tales page for "the goggles do nothing" that I realized how pathetic these people are
The weirdest thing about TVTropes is that they have a more-or-less presentable exterior that's interesting and enjoyable to read. So long as you've got time to kill that is.
But then you look under the white-washed shellac that serves as an outer coating and see the mold and rot that grows underneath.
I'd never realize the TVTropes community was like this if I didn't find this thread.
In all the time I have spent browsing TVTropes in my spare time, I have never even once seen any hint of their community. I don't know why I never sought it out, but now I'm rather glad I didn't.
That said, the site is still an excellent timewaster, and I'm sure I can stay away from the community, even now that I know it is there.

Did you get to the part of that thread where Fast Eddie tried to remove a bunch of rape tropes and pretty much everyone whined about how important rape is in literature?
Or how about the time when an underage troper got sexually harassed by a bunch of adult male tropers, and then the underage troper punished for complaining about it?
Or all the white supremacists, rape apologists, mysogynists, and misanthropes that pollute the forums with their horrible social ideologies on a regular basis and are never dealt with by anyone because Fast Eddie considers disagreement to be the most heinous of crimes?
The worst part about reading that thread is that when the tropers aren't being generally infuriating, the goons that comment on the tropers are.
I always wondered why TVTropes seems to worship Touhou. Now I know.
