Nice little video. Hard to believe World of Warcraft is coming on year 12.
Me and some buds were just playing some Warcraft 3 custom maps yesterday. Feels like yesterday that Dota took over the battle.net servers in WC3. Man the time flies.
Was that Mark Hamill talking? Great vid. They really have done some incredible stuff (though most of its not my cup of tea).
My heart sank a bit. I've met some great people playing Blizzard games past and present.

Blizzard is almost like the Nintendo of PC games. You can feel things are crafted with love, and not for pulling at your wallet. They obviously care for their games and the people who play them.

Their was a lot more diversity in WC3's map editor than in SC2's.
-nvm im dumb-
We're talking about the same Blizzard right?
Yeah, but they did completely turn the game around for the better because of the community's thoughts on the matter. A lot of other companies wouldn't give two shits and keep it the same way it was with a auction house. Every company has had bad games before. If anything, Diablo 3 is an example of them caring about what people think of the game. They have noticed that people really wanted Necromancer, and now they're working on it because of that, they really want their game to be good. It may not be a game that people enjoy at its core, but with the community's opinions, I am sure they would attempt to go back to their roots with Diablo 4.
The whole convention was great. Spent a lot of money on merch, but all the booths were great. All I wish is they mentioned some WoW stuff.

Look at SC1, which had some insanely inventive maps like the Super Mario RPG clone complete with battle zones. From what I've heard though, SC2's map editor is pretty tricky to work around

Also the custom maps browser is really bad in SC2, it prioritise the popular maps and it's impossible to find players for the least popular.

Dunno if they've fixed anything yet, but I can recall that a select few maps stayed on the front page for up to a year. That's all people saw, so that's all people played.
