What the fuck?
It's a FUCKING PHONE
Cant people wait like a week until the streets clear out a bit.
What an immense waste of time. It's not worth that amount of effort.
Also you skip the queue if you pre order the phone at most places....
When I was working next to the Apple store the queue for pre orders was 3 - 4 people while the other queue had about 100 - 200 people. Goes to show how smart some Apple customers are, I guess.
I bet Apple could make a fair bit of money by marking up the price really high for the first first few days. I wouldn't be surprised if some people would pay as much as a nice car just to get it first.

I got a better idea: Order it over the internet.
The fun part starts when 50% of the line doesn't get the ticket that lets you get the iPhone.
They usually hand out certain tickets which pretty much guarantees you that you will get an iPhone and just like what happened in Cologne they cannot handle the massive line and like 40-50 percent of the line doesn't get any which is basically a hint saying: "Go away".
Edit: Or they simply tell you right away which happened to my brother :v:
I didn't know this was in London and by looking at the people I assumed this was somewhere in India.
I would love to just run past the line screaming "I GOT ONE, I GOT ONE!!" while brandishing a pink dildo.
I would dress like an apple employee and go along the line and tell people that all iPhones are already gone for the day

Someone need to do this as a "prank" before its too late.
This is kind of dumb. You might aswell just order it through the internet.
that line is pretty bendy, heh
For a split second, at the last guy in the queue, I expected to hear 'HI THIS IS NORM FROM TESTED'.
what a bunch of weird fucking people
I'll never understand this shit, or even the people who wait in line on black friday.

It's a $650 phone that is objectively inferior to a phone you can get for $299.

there's always next year
and the year after that
and the year after that
ad infinitum

I thought they already did that, and decided to just always have it cost that much
I like how the guy at 1:11 gets back in line all seriously like his spot's about to get stolen or something.
This is pathetic.
Lining up because you want the new iPhone ASAP, I can completely understand.
Joining a line THIS long however is just a stupendously large waste of time.
This is like those midnight launches for games. but without any of the fun or hype of a midnight launch. The product at the end isn't an awesome new game it's just a very similar phone to what you've had in the past. They aren't lining up for 3D holographic VR machine they're just lining up for the iPhone 5+1.

oh really you didn't notice the constable at the very start of the video?
the big red buses? the big text saying regent street, london? no?
okay
Someone need to do this as a "prank" before its too late.
Why too late? Are you expecting Apple to just stop making iPhones? Next time the line will be even longer, making it even more fun

Wow the irony didnt even go over your head, it went through!

Hey, cool down, he just doesn't want to generalize the brits.
I'll never understand lines for products that aren't massively discounted or limited, I mean this thing is like $500, and it's not like there's only a thousand or something of them, they can just come to the store the next day and still get one.
[editline]26th September 2014[/editline]
I only stood in a line once, for 30 minutes, and I got a new $180 laptop from that.
Its specs are shit but you can never go wrong with having a backup computer.
I don't think they can even stockpile up enough to cover over 1/3rd of that line.
I'm also wondering how many people get pickpocketed there :v:

There was this one prank when the iP5 was released (I think), where a guy dressed as an employee walked along the line with a bunch of boxes on a cart and "accidentally" tipped them over to the sound of utter panic and screams.
