That's some incredibly intricate stuff going on there...
Wow what the fuck, that is incredible!
That's fucking awesome. A bit scary too if it was coming at you and you had no idea whats it is.
This is freaking awesome. Genius idea.
You just know some God damn kid is going to come and break them if he leaves them to "live" on the beaches like he wants. :smith:
infinite energy?
Seeing a hundred of these roaming the desert would look so awesome
Awesome. I hope he manages to do what he wanted.
This guy is amazing, he's inspired a whole subculture of "art"
Mechanical life
This is good, but did he just refer to those things as children?
I read "Sandbreasts"
:[
Still cool though.
I hate how he keeps referring to them as lifeforms.
They don't have any sensory input, they don't react to stimuli, they don't reproduce, they're just complex kinetic art structures that move in a straight line.
I thought it would be people building monsters from sand, but i wasn't dissapointed.
Holy dog shit, thats pretty cool. Amazing design, makes me want to try something like that now.
This is a pretty old form of art, quite interesting, though

Some of them simple binary 'brains' and most of them have a function that stops them from wandering in to the ocean. His later versions also detect when they're advancing up to steep an incline and turn it around before they topple over. They do react to stimuli. There was a model in the video you just watched that would walk away when people touched poles that protruded from it.
I saw this a little while ago, such awesome creations.
The guy seems a little bit of a nutter, though.

Must've been disappointing :v:
Seriously though these are great.

When I heard that, I was thinking "A lot of these problems, 'the creator' didn't give a shit about solving"
Holy fuck thats amazing!

This needs to be done.
I have seen this already. It must be incredible to see one of those things moving in front of you.
Incredible. Exactly how much time would it take to build one?
Obligatory "Proud of Holland" comment :v:
If he let them "live" on their own, wouldn't they eventually end up walking into the ocean?

Wind powered defense mechanism.
That is amazing, truly awesome until they become self aware.
This is pretty awesome, I like how smoothly they walk around too.
