Reminds me of north korea :ohdear:
Sucks how there's so much free space but it's too expensive for the people that need it.
"Not so great mall of china"
heh
that's fucked up though, 70% of new apartment buildings aren't even occupied.
Being Chinese myself, this is what embodies everything I dislike about China. In fact, it's something I generally dis-like with many governments around the world.
That is, having more concern over what your nation 'looks like' rather than having a proper concern over the people that live in your nation in the first place. China's spending too much time trying to 'look' nice rather than paying any heed to what the future holds if they keep treading this path, or their own peasant population.
What's even worse is that, there are places in China that are doing just fine and dandy, but then you have 90% of it looking like this.
and I hate simply complaining about issues like this, and I normally don't, but China and all other nations similar in any way shape or form need to get their shit together.
So China's just increasing there GDP when really it has no quality at all? I suppose China is way more far off from being an economic super power than it would seem.

Won't you go to jail for saying that?

According to the little flag under his name he is currently located in America.
that was a bit strange suddenly hearing Lady Gaga at 10:35
this is fucking sickening
Don't worry. China will put those buildings to use. It's all part of a big plan, you see.
"The West thinks ahead hundreds of years, the East thinks ahead thousands of years!"
Or so they say.
Basically, I wouldn't be surprised if this does come out well. I mean, with such a huge population that's only growing, at least they'll have places to put all their people.
I guess when the bubble bursts, the revolution comes.
Soooo, empty.
That's really fascinating, but also horrible. Now, I'm not an economics major by any means, and feel free to release a box storm on me, but why can't they just move people from the soon to be destroyed homes into the newer ones? I know they're asking an astronomical amount of money and want a profit, but surely some money is better than none.
Again, I'm sure there's a huge reason why that wouldn't make sense, I just can't think of it.
They should just give the apt away. It's not like they earn any money on them now...
Quantity over quality, what's new from China? :smug:
Weird that people don't just break into the apartments and "move in".

Cultural values may be the reason why that is uncommon in the East.
Accidentally ending up there would be creepy as fuck
I still really feel bad for all of those people, especially the married couple and the toyshop owner. I wonder what rent is for him, if he's in danger of losing his shop at all.
Mandarin sounds like backwards German.
And so I can see the collapse of the economy. It will be a short lived Overlord, going to war soon enough.
Its how all dictatorships work.
China is investing in pointless expenditures. So much for them being the Number 1 world power for the next century.
Pretty sure that soon the whole city is full.
Maybe the government is just finishing off the whole town before letting people into it
Doing nothing about it would be silly

And it is silly, isn't it.
China's property sector will grow larger!
They should make it all cheaper.

Silly

They already let people into it and nothing is being done with the city.
