part of the reason you say this is because you don't live in the same conditions the shooter does. you don't understand what it's like to grow up in detroit.
what happened to the guys friend? did he just run off or what? all they say is some other random guy finds him and calls 911.

The friend ended up being caught and is now serving 35 years in prison.

This. For many people in these types of areas, gang membership is the only way to survive (or, the only way they feel they can survive). I'm not by any means condoning what this guy did, but there's a larger structural issue.

It was my understanding that the friend was the one who shot him. He did say he had known the shooter for several years, he had a picture of him at home, and so on. The only thing I can't figure out is the shotgun, but I had supposed it was stashed at the location.
At no other time did this guy mention another person doing the shooting, so I don't see why you'd think that.
