I thought this deserved its own thread because it's more indicative of YouTube policy as a whole.
TL;DW: YouTube gives you more promotion and better ads if you make the video longer than 10 minutes. This is why many game videos are over 10 minutes long. Indirectly 'calls out' SeaNanners by showing how he went from 3 minute videos to 10 minutes for what seemed to be no reason a few months ago. Also claims that's he's not calling anyone out because he would do the same exact thing had he known.
This would also explain the rise of secondary game channels that show full game content.
[sp]There is a nice surprise at the end :)[/sp]
That's nice to know. Damn Youtube is going through an identity crisis.
Damn, that is a nice flashy intro.
I have a respect for PewDiePie and how self-aware he is now, especially that comment about how [sp]YouTube trying to be TV is like PewDiePie trying to be Filthy Frank.[/sp]
But I hate watching his videos and getting Leafy videos and other CLICK-BAITY titles in my suggestions for weeks.
Sick death stranding shirt pewds
Thank you pewds for pointing this shit out.
I think people have noticed an increase in video length but never really knew why
I hate videos that drag simple tutorials or guides out way longer than they need to be, though I haven't noticed many 10 minute ones.
I once saw some guy making how-to's for terraria that were like 15 seconds long, I wish that was the standard.
I guess he's gotten to the point where he just doesn't give a shit anymore and has finally just started doing/saying more or less what he wants.
I do not know if they show for you people already but the subtitles :v:
Fitting that his vid is exactly 10 minutes long :v:
lmao jacksepticeye going to the bathroom without editing it out
Fitting that his vid is exactly 10 minutes long :v:
Should have been 9:59 long

"That's like PewDiePie trying to be like FilthyFrank"
At least he's self aware.
I dislike it when some channels like Larry Bundy Jr. make their videos slow on purpose (?). People say he's just slow-spoken, but come on. The editing too is super slow and everything. It genuinely feels like he's stretching the video, and many people have noticed it.
It doesn't need to be fast, but when it's too slow, it's just obvious.

And to be honest LBJ always seems like clickbait with all his "Top 5" and colorful, striking thumbnails. He could be in just for the money.
Oh man that intro. I like his rip off of the vsauce intro.

His videos have always been edited like that, even when he was on TV (where most of the old Top 10's came from).
I won't deny that Fact Hunt itself is pretty clickbait-y though, he's admitted that he makes them because he wants to upload a lot more in between episodes of GYCW.
I honestly find myself watching videos with 2x speed lately, some shit is just so much longer than it needs to be.
I've decided to avoid any new content Pewdiepie is making because I'm going to binge watch his videos some where down the road, with the exception of this one.
That is some thing I never thought I would say.

ngl his content has seriously gotten good these past few months. never thought the day would come when I'm actually watching his shit on a regular basis and enjoying it

Yeah I don't know why mine were enabled but the subs are amazing, I really like that extra bit

Oh my god he actually used the intro

No matter what system youtube tries for monetizing videos there's always going to be drawbacks that'll screw over specific types of content
I honestly have no idea how youtube would go about fixing these issues, they could try using different sections of youtube using different monetizing options but then exploiting the system would probably be easier than ever
or they could try something similar to patreon but that site has it's own disadvantages & it'd be much harder for newer channels to become successful
all in all youtube can never win
What is more annoying is when the channels you have subscribed to uploads a new video and you don't see it in your subscription box because they won't make YouTube money.
I thought i would never gonna say this but I am actually kinda starting to like "the new" PewdiePie..
His non let's play videos atleast

Some games or series don't really work under 10min. 10-20min is actually a pretty decent length in my opinion.
I'm not doubting there are people that changed to over 10min because of that as you could see in the video but at least people I watched always had "longer" episodes.
And those secondary channels, pretty sure those just came due to the demand for it. Lots of people just want more of their favorite YT stars even if it is less condensed content and I too love to watch whole uncut series. In the end youtubers went for it because it is of course extra money.

i think a 25 minute upload a day is the best for game series, not too much content to get burned out, and not too slow
Ever since Youtube started paying people for making videos it turned shitty.

With those it's pretty obvious that he just tried to stretch them out to fit the amount of time the show had to be though
