I liked the part where she kept interrupting him.
It's great how at the end she implies that he's being provocative by saying video games DON'T make people go out and kill other people.
I like how they show gameplay footage from black ops 2 and say it was made by infinity award

And since when do you gain fucking points from gta, yeah if you slaughter citizens they drop money but you also gain wanted level points which is kind of like a punishment for doing that, you dont get awarded in achievements or gamerscore by doing a mass slaughter
You kill a prostitute and you get to win points
if you HAVEN'T PLAYED or even RESEARCHED the fucking game don't say what happens in it if you DON'T FUCKING KNOW what really happens.
I don't agree with a lot of what he said though. Other then video games don't cause violence

I don't know about you, but I find oncoming ammo, helicopters, and good times quite a reward :v:
Hey.
Hey reporter?
You know what I find "offensive and disgusting"?
Being called a potential mass shooter and monster because I like to spend my time doing something that doesn't hurt anyone that isn't made of pixels.
Hey I remember that mission in GTA3!
What was up with the van's AI?...
All I saw was an ignorant reporter who obviously drew her own conclusions as an outsider looking in.
And a psychologist who thinks that even though violent media doesn't cause mass shooting, that there should still be censorship/restrictions. Doesn't really add up.

But but but you are being bathed in blood and glorified for how many you kill! You're gonna pick up a gun and do that in real life for sure!
I find it weird how people look at a few mass shootings and say that its videogame's fault because the shooter played them, but they completely disregard every single gamer out there that has most likely never even got into a fight.
But I guess thats what scapegoats are for, especially when people have wanted violent videogames banned for a long time...
Hey I remember that mission in GTA3!

the ai was looking for prostitutes to kill to earn some mad points

Well it was a gaming footage from one of the Let's players from Youtube known as SSoHPKC and he also talked about this nonsense on his video.

I don't get it, why are people blaming everything else aside from the core problems, such as crazy people and desperate people? Maybe it has something to do with congress members being too busy stuffing their pockets to consider real fixes to real problems, and would rather make people shut up so that they can keep filling up those pockets with cash. If violent video games made people want to go out and murder everything, then shit like those shootings would be even more common. But there's also the case of mentally ill people playing these games and getting far too into it, sorta like psychosis, but that has never truly lead to a mass shooting. Why are people targeting assault weapons and video games so specifically? Why not movies, or handguns?
Erin what are you doing baby.
Lol. Fucking selectively researched topics. The norway killer played games between his breaks and he spent most of his time at the shooting range.
I couldn't watch this. There has already been too much pathetic finger pointing and mis-direction in the wake of these shootings than I could handle. The way the media reports on shootings probably causes more violence and shootings than video-games ever did.
It may sound blunt, but I can't wait until the day when all these old, outdated politicians die out and get replaced by people who actually know what they're talking about. It's not going to be perfect, sure, but something tells me in the future more people will actually look at information and studies regarding a topic rather than pushing forward personal beliefs that they "think" will work. The same goes for education standards and gun laws.
I don't think that's actually going to happen.
Thread specific rant time.
I'm so sick of all this media targeting of video games.
Yes, games can be violent. There are equally/more so violent movies and explicit music tracks. I've played violent games in my time. Not in one violent game I've played does the game tell you to "kill mass amounts of innocent people", as the media claims.
The problem is, the media is purposely confusing people on what you CAN do in a game, and how the game was INTENDED to be played.
The Grand Theft Auto series is a series of continuous controversy. In this game, you have any weapon available to you and any car you can imagine. If someone WANTED to, you could do what the media describes. However, the story of the game is intended to place the player in the position of an immigrant simply trying to survive in America, or a minority individual caught up in a world of crime he didn't want to be involved in.
The games don't want violent behavior toward innocent people. They want realism. They want the player to be careful and THINK before making a decision.
Yes, a shooter had released to the press that he "trained" with video games. That in no way means that video games were intended for that purpose.
The wrap up:
To everyone that says "let's ban all [potentially] violent video games", just remember that all you have to do if it concerns you is watch what your kid plays, watches, or listens to. You don't have to bring down an entire industry because you depend on the games you bought for your kid to be a babysitter for you.
Recently, senators have been saying "Gamers have no credibility in this argument...This is about their self-interest."
We are credible. We know more about the industry than anyone outside it. We have a voice. And as far as self-interests go, senators who say this need to take a look in the mirror before they go on about self-interests.
Guys didn't you know that before the invention of computer games there was no violent crime anywhere.
Silly gamers or should I say murderers.
Guys, I have a confession to make. I am a murderer, it started when I was 6 and playing Putt Putt Travels through Time. I just liked to play it, I played it so much that I decided to kill people. For no reason, not because of their opinion, if they disliked/hated me. I just killed people.
Please do not end up like me, if you see this game on ebay or anywhere, take it and destroy it.

this is cnn aka one of the worst news sources known to man.
i'm not surprised at all at the way this interview was carried out. the interviewer didn't have enough research done beforehand and the interviewee was a poor speaker, unable to elaborate on his views(he brought up gun legislation instead of talking about why video games don't cause shootings), and was all around a poor choice for a guest.
CNN has really gone downhill.
CNN has really gone downhill.
it was never really a beacon of journalism to begin with. at least not in the period i'v known about it.
So by their logic of learning to use REAL weapons from halo and call of duty does that mean I can play Gran Turismo or Forza and learn how to drive?
Because that sounds great, I'll just pop in Need For Speed and then I will get my drivers license in no time!
Does that also mean I've learnt how to play the guitar while playing Guitar Hero
Sounds great
Everybody in that video should be fucking fired for immense levels of dumb
She's not a reporter, she hosts a show. She says all sorts of controversial stuff, I've heard her take the other side in the same argument too.
Anderson Cooper is way cooler anyways.

CNN fired all their investigative reporters and shut down their investigative department, so it's no surprised that they don't know wtf they're talking about
Halo? Really Halo is one of the games shown? A game set in 2552 killing aliens?
I fucking hate the media. Thank fuck for the internet. I'm glad I never have to watch this shit anymore.

My favourite was when San Andreas was released, and how it 'glamorised drug dealing'.
No it doesn't. It demonises it.
Does the US not have as strict a rating board for games?
Also, I agree with the psychologist. keep guns if you really think you need them as a defence, but having one that fires that many rounds, seems to go beyond a defence.
A clip of GTA3? Should be renamed to CON, Cable Olds Network.
