After just beating Doom, this is a really fun run to watch. [sp]Who knew DOOM could be so crash prone, though? :^) [/sp]
I wonder how long a Glitchless run would take. Or a Glitchless Newgame+
Isn't that fun to watch because of the unreliable glitches. And can you even claim a WR run if you force-quit the game so often? Could just as well be playing Nightmare difficulty then.
I wouldn't be able to do half the stuff in the video but quitting the game, isn't that kinda defeating the purpose of a speed run?
I wouldn't be able to do half the stuff in the video but quitting the game, isn't that kinda defeating the purpose of a speed run?
Nah, any% (which is what he's doing essentially, just in ultra-nightmare difficulty) is about going as fast as possible. It doesn't mean the run is fun or good to watch though. Pokemon Blue can be finished in around 4 minutes with glitches, but people would rather run a glitch less form because it's more entertaining. Zelda is the most frequent offender here. OoT and TP have a plethora of different categories which change the route of the run. Basically, while this category is the fastest, it doesn't mean its the best. IMO there should always be a category for the fastest run of the game, regardless if it's skilled. There are many cases where the de facto category of a games becomes a glitch less or no "specific skip" run because without limitations on category, the bugginess of the game renders the any% to challenge. If you want to run glitch less which could be more fun, that's entirely the choice of the runner.
Speedruns are in essence getting from start to finish no matter what bugs you use, by avoiding the death I guess he's exploiting by doing this It's like the quits in dark souls runs I guess Also merge
Fair enough, not really watched many speed runs to be honest but it just seems weird lol
I wouldn't be able to do half the stuff in the video but quitting the game, isn't that kinda defeating the purpose of a speed run?
It's not quitting it's crashing, did you watch the video dummy
Holy shit. For you guys just skimming around like me, be sure to check out 21:00.
he himself says it's cheating but then does it anyway it's not exactly fair, the WR should have an asterisk next to it
I wouldn't be able to do half the stuff in the video but quitting the game, isn't that kinda defeating the purpose of a speed run?
Not at all, LobosJR does it all the time for his Dark Souls speedruns when he misses jumps that would normally kill you.
Is exiting if you almost die by messing up allowed? I feel like it kinda defeats the purpose of an ultra-nightmare speedrun.
any%'s have virtually no rules. it doesn't matter what you do in order to see the last cutscene or credits roll. even if, for example, a game left in their debug menu on accident and it enabled someone to see the ending credits in less than 30 seconds then that would still be a perfectly valid run as per the any% rules. i think someone on AGDQ had to quit his game too but the timer kept going and everyone was okay with it. if it bothers some people how boring it gets which i understand, glitchless% might be more your style and if i were to guess, it would probably be the 2nd most popular form of speedrunning up next to 100% or TAS runs, then you have all the weird ones like blindfolding yourself or doing the game with one hand
I wonder how long a Glitchless run would take. Or a Glitchless Newgame+
How do you start newgame+? Or is it the same as making a new game?
the weird ones like blindfolding yourself or doing the game with one hand
i've heard the second is popular among nekopara playors
i've heard the second is popular among nekopara playors
Woops all mouth.
How do you start newgame+? Or is it the same as making a new game?
yeah if you start from the first chapter on the same savefile all your upgrades carry over
yeah if you start from the first chapter on the same savefile all your upgrades carry over
That's mission select, not newgame+ What I wanted is basicaly the whole campaign as it was but with all the upgrades.
It's the same thing pretty much, you still progress through the game as if it were a new game with upgrades, just a different button to start it
