On topic, I heard a while ago that people liked some guy called "PewDiePie" (Pew Dee Pie? Or actually Pew DIE Pie?) So I watched one of his videos, I lasted 30 seconds tops, clicked off and never watched him again.
Now that I've actually listened to him, PewDiePie sounds like a shrieking, retarded, Cartman from South Park

See here's the thing. I actually didn't mind this guy's earlier videos---his Dead Space 2 playthrough wasn't bad. Nothing to write home about but he never really screamed at the top of his voice, and he even enjoyed the atmosphere and---dare I say it---the plot of the game. And no facecam either.
But holy shit on a stick almost nothing else he has is good, at all. I nearly collapsed when I saw his Doom 3 playthrough, where it really looked like he thinks most of his audience consists of people whose attention span is as big as a pin head. Well he's not far off :v:

I remember when lets plays we're about the game, not seeing some guy scream with a face cam at not even scary moments. They used to talk about how the game works, and it's mechanics, not joke about rape. I miss those days.

This is Retsupurae, the vast majority of their targets are videos with less than 1000 views and games on the Sega CD. Popularity isn't the issue, it's that he's fucking terrible.
It makes no difference if he's a nice guy or a giant dick, his videos are absolute garbage and it's far less bandwagoning than jumping on because he's popular.
