As much as I don't enjoy his videos, I can't fault him for this.

do you really think massive corporations really care about the charities they are donating to in some of their drives when they are harvesting the lives of millions of sweat factory workers? it's called publicity.
if you think less people would donate to cause if famous people weren't behind it, well, I feel sorry for you.
and also be aware of the fact most charities cause as many problems as they solve by outsourcing materials and labor.

charity is a way for those in a position of power to feel less guilty about this fact without having to put any actual effort in (with a few notable exceptions, of course). if you're going to claim to care about these underprivileged people, throwing money at them is so far from the solution, as history has shown so many times.

Well, on the matter at hand, even if he is doing it for publicity, at least something good is coming out of it. Everybody who hates him and his terrible attempt at comedy will continue to do so, and on the "publicity" thing, it's fucking Pewdiepie, does he even need good publicity at this point?

I can see where you are coming from, but this is youtube celebrity. We're not talking about some dude who robs people of their money. he gets money from providing entertainment. He could easily have not donated to charity at all and kept his money. This is just an attempt to make the people who believe he is some evil sack of shit (because he has a sense of humor that some people don't like) understand that he, well, isn't.
Obviously, you can still not like him for his sense of humor or whatever, it's your opinion, but the only reasonable reason he would donate to charity is so people can get along with him. Even if it does in the end get him more revenue and, in turn, more money, he doesn't donate money for the purpose to get MORE money. That's just silly.
So really, it's just to shed some good light on him, to to cleanse him of his guilt or anything like that, if he has any.
