Why are so many Americans so obsessed with having the right to have a gun? I guess shooting as a sport is pretty agreeable but just to own a gun because you have the right to?
Why are so many Americans so obsessed with having the right to have a gun?
Why are so many Americans so obsessed with having the right to have a gun? I guess shooting as a sport is pretty agreeable but just to own a gun because you have the right to?
Historically speaking, it's because of our nation arising due to a violent revolution, as well as one of our constitution's biggest rules being the right to bear arms. When the formation and survival of the nation has largely depended on violent conflict, from the original revolution to the recent wars in the Middle East, people here put a high monetary and symbolic value on guns. Currently speaking, a lot of the obsession comes from fears of both too many guns and too few guns. If the government takes most of them away, a lot of Americans will feel defenseless against both individual enemies (muggers/robbers/etc.) and their own government in the event it violently turns on them. If gun laws are kept lax and procuring them made is easy, then everyone becomes afraid of insane people and criminals getting an entire arsenal's worth of guns far too easily and going on a rampage. In fact, quite a few such violent rampages have occurred recently, which is why gun control is such a hot topic lately. I hope that explains America's focus on guns well enough to make sense.
Video in OP got the chief suspended for 30 days

Anyone who's not with them or agrees with them is either a dirty democrat, a lying republican, or a "libtard". They would most likely rather watch us all die than help us in any way, shape, or form. It's very childish

what a big dumb faggot
Land of the free
the amount of blind patriotism and undirected rage that americans have is always hilarious
So this guy has a video up called "Chief Mark Kessler, I didnt take an oath to any patch, badge or title!" where he's just shooting a rifle for like a minute Now I don't live in the US and don't know loads about law enforcement there but, don't officers have to take some oath to "protect and serve" or something like that? Isn't there supposed to be some sort of "moral" pledge or oath to becoming a cop? And why do people like that Kessler man become police chiefs, people with even more power than just an officer? I know this post might sound like some random european going "dem 'mericans they stupid" but this is really just me asking because I have no reference to this sort of thing from the police around here
Friends who want to stay friends don't discuss religion or politics
I actually have a friend with differing political views from mine and we both like to discuss politics from time to time. May get pretty heated during our debate but we still remain good friends.
Why are so many Americans so obsessed with having the right to have a gun? I guess shooting as a sport is pretty agreeable but just to own a gun because you have the right to?
Also to all the people rating dumb, I am not in any way saying that Americans are stupid for liking guns Etc. Etc. I am legit asking a question since I do not know why they like guns and being so patriotic.
This guy gives a bad voice on the reasonable gun owners. You can tell that's the only thing he's holding with two hands that belongs to him.
the amount of blind patriotism and undirected rage that americans have is always hilarious
His rage seemed pretty directed to me.
