I have been waiting for this update forever now, and it's coming even closer This is the best possible news I could have heard, even moreso because Christmas Break is right around the corner for me. The update itself is slated to come to the unstable build of Starbound next week, and eventually the stable build in January or so.
Not a fan of this whole Yearly Update thing, but at least it beats Wollay's method.
Not a fan of this whole Yearly Update thing, but at least it beats Wollay's method.
Of never [editline]14th December 2014[/editline] I've not played Starbound in months, will be nice to try it again.
Haven't played it since it came out like a year ago, pretty excited for this.
"Combat Overhaul" Finally. A huge reason I stopped playing was because the combat got insanely boring, glad to see they did something about it.
I'll be honest, This update looks nice but people are still going to complain how long it takes them.
I'll be honest, This update looks nice but people are still going to complain how long it takes them.
If I remember right reason why did they do this in first place was because some people complained about too frequent updates.
Looks good, but at this point I haven't played for so long that I'm just going to wait for the final release.
It doesn't even matter to me if this breaks current saves. I love starting out new for big updates.
Not a fan of this whole Yearly Update thing, but at least it beats Wollay's method.
I really wish Cubeworld actually updated.
I really wish Cubeworld actually updated.
It's heartbreaking how Cube World turned out. I'm just glad Starbound didn't end up the same way.
Has it already been a year
please no more birds I beg of you
I'll be honest, This update looks nice but people are still going to complain how long it takes them.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/p8kyXes.png[/t] (This is an old image.) To be honest, I'd defend them on the grounds of how long developing and updating a game can actually take, but on the other hand, they've had some abysmal community PR. That, in turn, split a lot of the community between die-hard fanboys and people who wouldn't shut up about how terrible the development team is - I think a lot of the reasonable people just dropped out. All that aside, I'm happy to see an update, and might proverbially dust off my uninstalled copy to see if it was worth the wait.
Not too excited for this, the last time I tried to get my friends to play again they made a noncommittal "ehhh" noise.
I really wish Cubeworld actually updated.
Has Wollay gotten off his high horse yet and admit he fucked up? Oop. Just checked, no he has not. Hasn't even acknowledged that there's only been 1 update and the game's been out for so long.
finally you can upgrade your ship with more space. One thing I didn't like about this game was how hard settling somewhere was made. You had to move up tiers and change planets and explore all the time, managing a base on one planet was pretty much useless but the ship was too freaking small. Maybe I'll now give this another chance

[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/8po0Ch.jpg[/t] You could even build your own entirely out of blocks. I do agree though, the default ships are absurdly small and it's nice to see an official expansion to them. I just want to be able to, at least, fit all my crafting stations in it plus a bed.
I'm looking forward to this, I quite enjoyed the current version. I just wish they had gone down the route of monthly smaller updates rather than one huge one after a year :l
I hope it doesn't take another year for the next update :v:
Looks nice and there are some major improvements, but still looks like it will continue to feel empty.
Looks nice and there are some major improvements, but still looks like it will continue to feel empty.
It feels a lot less empty and more like an actual game (as opposed to meaningless sandbox) with the outpost and its quests. [editline]15th December 2014[/editline] Also, new progression is certainly nicer. [sp]broken ship, fix it up and get gear to protect from environments to go further[/sp]
"Combat Overhaul" Finally. A huge reason I stopped playing was because the combat got insanely boring, glad to see they did something about it.
Yeah it was fucking boring compared to Terraria. Starbound had the problem of just everything being too slow while still trying to borrow the combat experience in Terraria. Even with tech that made you super mobile it still wasn't viable to use melee at all.

finally.
I really wish Cubeworld actually updated.
I wish it drastically changed mechanics though. "ONLY X CLASS CAN PUT ON Y" is fucking awful I don't know how something can be too MMO-ey and to D&D at the same time
Also fuck yeah cooking. I always loved cooking in games especially when they give different buffs.
I miss the music the most.
I'm looking forward to this, I quite enjoyed the current version. Still, an update every half year might have been better than a whole year.

i was told to stay away from starbound for a while because it felt really empty and incomplete but now I think i just found my christmas present
