I was going to ask if the emulator's accuracy might be a factor, but I found this comment from Omnigamer in the video's comment section: [quote=Omnigamer]Regardless of how accurate an emulator might be, the simulator I created (spreadsheet) was built solely from the game code. He's just mad he doesn't have sick skills like the King of Video Games.
Is there any way to try and recreate potential hardware errors that could lead to his impossible time?

What makes me skeptical is apparently the guy managed to recreate this several times.

Activision says he was able to do it for them and that's all that matters. But the real question is, why didn't Activision record it? And did they let him bring his own cartridge / system or did he do it on ones that they provided?
In super mario world you can credits warp from the first level with some bugs wizardry during a speedrun, it could just be some unknown bug being used he didn't want to publicize, and bugs are valid in speedruns. Unless FP thinks using bugs in a speedrun is cheating.

And SMW is one of the games that people have examined the code most thoroughly for. To the point where there's been a fully commented disassembly of the game released and SMWCentral.net has a rom and ram map of the game. (Though to be fair an SNES game is a ton more complex than an Atari 2600 game, SMW is 512kb iirc versus this one's 2kb, and SMW is much newer than this game as well.)

It's not difficult to fully recreate the code and examine all possible inputs to the game.
