The thumbnail sort of gives away the surprise at the end unfortunately. [hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rkx0Wf7NI_U[/hd] The notable changes so far seem to be:
Completely redone interface, more like the Tenkaichi games with expanded, multi-bar health to better reflect character endurance. An extra ultimate slot, so now you can have two Ultimate attacks, an evasion, and a transformation. No word on if that can be used for another ultimate should you lack a trans. Z-Souls renamed to Super Souls, but no idea if this will lead to any change in functionality yet. More arenas for local multiplayer matches than just the World Tournament. Fancier effects involving debris in the air for when Ki is charged, pushed or passively concentrated in a character's transformation. Transformations like Super Saiyan are now tiered. That means Super Saiyan 1 can be charged to then transform into Super Saiyan 2, and again into Super Saiyan 3. Super Saiyan no longer has infinite Super/Ultimate usage while active, not even in SSJ3; it solely works as a buff to power and abilities. Holding the Ki button down no longer just fires more shots, but instead fires off a charged ki attack that differs per character. Jump Vanish, which lets you more efficiently evade to the sides and close the distance when in closer range as a snap evasion of sorts at the cost of minor amounts of stamina. Stamina Break; unknown how it works, but presumably like Burst Limit: a super melee hit that breaks an opponent's stamina real hard to leave them wide open; missing with it, however, made you a sitting duck. Reverse Dash, a variant of simply vanishing to continue a combo on a knocked away opponent, in which you quickly dash to around to the opponent's opposite side for flanking or preventing escape.
I wonder if they'll improve the customisation. I hated how you couldn't change the colours of most of the costumes.
No mention if beam struggle/energy clash will be in the game. I hope it's brought back because it was a lot of fun in the tenkaichi games.
No mention if beam struggle/energy clash will be in the game. I saw footage of two players firing Beams head-on, and like in XV1, they just passed through eachother and the player that got hit first had theirs cancelled out.
that scouter visor looks dope
Super Saiyan no longer has infinite Super/Ultimate usage while active
it took a sequel to fix this bullshit
it took a sequel to fix this bullshit
I'm glad in the end that I bought Xenoverse last year, because it helped kill time for me during a bit of a depressing period and at its core it was pretty fun, but goddamn they made a lot of really fucking stupid decisions and only patched a small assortment of stuff before the DLC came out. I'm half-expecting this game to be flawed too, meaning a probably inevitable Xenoverse 3 would be the real shining star of this series.
that scouter visor looks dope
It's actually an item you get from the Resurrection of F DLC apparently in the first game, they just put it on the time patroller for the demo. I know because I bought the season pass during this Steam summer sale and that same scouter's in my inventory.
Did they mention if clothes will have stats on them? Because it was a real bummer to play a ki warrior and be limited to like 5 sets
Since it's just a local battle demo, no info on that yet.
I loved the first game and I really hope they make it so stat-effecting items and clothing items are separate things. There were so many cool costumes but you're so limited because of how much they effect stats.

It doesn't look bad but it looks more like a dlc to the original game
It doesn't look bad but it looks more like a dlc to the original game
The battles probably changed very little, but the new hub worlds and other multiple changes make me think there's enough changed for it to count as a sequel. The fact it isn't on previous console generations probably helps a lot as well.
I'm glad they finally nerfed super saiyans. Being able to spam super and ultimate attacks as much as you want was absurd.
I wonder if you'll be able to import your character customization from Xenoverse 1. I can't see them allowing you to copy your entire character, because of changed mechanics, and it would be unfair/easy if you were max level from the start.

How would they do that if you played XV on 360/PS3 though?
How would they do that if you played XV on 360/PS3 though?
Ah good point.
trunks turning around at 1:24 while the girl yelped really fucked me up
It doesn't look bad but it looks more like a dlc to the original game
That's kind of the model Bandai's been using for years.
After playing XV1 lately I have to admit, them actually putting detail into the environments is good compared to the first game just being this awkward, blurred painted style everywhere that looks ugly as sin. Probably because it was PS3/360 alongside the next-gen versions. Now if only the characters had better shaders and less of this weird anime vaseline shine combined with sharper textures.
it took a sequel to fix this bullshit
Another bullshit I hopoe they either don't bring again or tweak really hard is Super-Armor. In the last missions, enemies had so much of it, it was ridiculous and just frustrating.
I wonder if it will have any of the characters from Dragon Ball Super. If not at launch, probably as DLC.
I wonder if it will have any of the characters from Dragon Ball Super. But they'll see if they can potentially make DLC.
The devs said that there won't be any Super content in the base game, probably because the series isn't finished yet. And also it would be great to play as Hit.
My hope for this game is that it isn't as easy to cheat in it as the first game. Couple days in of ranked and already had people editing their hp/levels/ki.

And also it would be great to play as Hit.
Well, judging by concept art and the Time Breakers logo of Xenoverse / Online, [sp]the Future Trunks of Super may very well be leading into Xenoverse as art of him wearing a sweater is the same outfit beneath his XV jacket, and Black has a Time Breaker ring.[/sp]
I hope we see new races to choose from, as well as more body types available for them If you wanted a Majin character who was male and wanted them to look more like Super Buu you were shit out of luck
More gameplay
Wow Goku's japanese voice is fucking awful lmao
Wow Goku's japanese voice is fucking awful lmao
after watching every episode of DBS that is out, I got used to it. Same voice actress that played him in the original Dragon Ball I believe.
Yeah Goku's japanese voice has always been terrible(or at least I always found it really annoying), if I recall correctly the reason was that they never changed voice actors for him when he grew up.
