Great experiment, it's amazing how we can all be subconsciously racist without even knowing it.
jesus christ it takes an hour to take off a lock
Wow I didnt even see the whole video before commenting. Fucking racists.
[editline]08:04PM[/editline]
I gotcha, I gotcha.
Shut the fuck up you egomaniac bitch.
Ha, oh wow...Fucking racists.
Laughing at that old man with the black kid. He raged hard.
Well ok, I'll just take your tools then.

Elderly white men racist? No, couldn't be.
i am black and this disgusts me
it's interesting how they're still convinced the black kid is really stealing when there's a group of like ten people standing around him calling him a thief and two people calling the cops. it's like logic isn't even in play.

Don't talk about yourself like that.
The white guy was wearing hiker shoes and his hat like a workers hat. I'm sure if the black guy wore his hate straight and clothes not ghetto looking a few more people would pass by.

It makes more sense than you'd think
I either would call it on both or wouldn't on both
different people, more than one variable
The black guy's clothes are much more suspicious than the white guy's
I dunno so much about this. It seems like the black kid's responses were more abrupt. Seriously, "Is this your bike?" "No, but it's gonna be!"

Agreed, the fact that the black guy's hat is tilted and raised like that makes him much more suspicious in my opinion than a white guy with his hat firmly on his head. It might sound crazy, but it's the truth.
"It had nothing to do with his race"
Yeah, that's what they say, not what they mean. They are afraid to admit they were racially profiling.

yeah man you don't know he might have a bong in there or something

It's a cultural thing
That just makes me sad, I wonder what the black and white actors reaction was to this.
I remember reading a study a few weeks ago in some journal or other in a waiting room that suggested that we're all preternaturally biased to help people of the same colour and be more inclined to think ill of those with a different skin tone.
It doesn't help, of course, that most of the criminals you see on tv and the news are black. Stereotypes exist, unfortunatly and they'll continue existing until we tackle racial issues at the root. The problem is we're only trimming back the branches.

Racism is in our genes, you can't simply get rid of it. Just for some it's more exposed and for some it's less.
Racism will always exist, people want to think they're better because they have something different that doesn't even matter. Another example is when circumcision is discussed, everyone get's all hostile about how their dick is better when it doesn't matter.
I still don't think you can chalk this one up to race entirely, or even mostly
He WAS wearing his clothes a lot more conspicuously, his replies were criminal right off the bat, and it was a shitload of different people in the park. Race likely did play a role in a very small few of the people that asked him what he was doing, but I noticed there were no black people walking around when the white guy was doing it.
Just backing up my earlier "too many variables" statement
[editline]10:27PM[/editline]
holy shit just finished watching it all the way
"These people that stopped a guy from jacking a bike were RACIST, and when he said it was his and he couldn't find his key they helped him to seem like they WEREN'T RACIST"
batshit logic
They're stupid, with a decent bolt cutter you can get a lock opened in seconds. :colbert:
Although not a keychain lock shown in that video, but technically you can still cut the lock.
i don't think there's anything wrong with preferring your race over others
i wish i was white
