This does not look like it came from a anime tbh
its doing at least something right
[editline]19th April 2015[/editline]
still gonna be terrible tho
I don't like Attack on Titan, but I might just give this a shot because it does look pretty good from a visual effects perspective, and I'm a total sucker for that.
i am tired of gritty adaptations
i am tired of gritty adaptations
Uh, ok, I know jack shit about Attack on Titan but iirc it's literally as gritty as it gets since the majority of mankind is holed up in tiny cities surrounded by walls since these titans have literally eaten their way across the world.
All things considered, I am impressed
It looks actually pretty good, should turn out to be good. At least better than a lot of the other live action films I've seen.
The effects and stuff looks good too
i am tired of gritty adaptations
the irony
i am tired of gritty adaptations
But the anime itself is already gritty as fuck, you see young adults (some of them are arguably still teenagers) get torn to bits, eaten alive by giants and get broken so bad by what's going on around them they either burst into tears before getting eaten or just kill themselves in desperation.
Literally the first violent thing you see in the movie is a woman sent flying by a shockwave with a baby in her arms.
It's hard to get grittier than the anime.
i am tired of gritty adaptations
How in the hell are they ever going to make LIVE ACTION movies not fucking gritty?
What do you want? A family family comedy? A movie about love? common man this is attack on titan, if you didn't know how gritty it already is, then you haven't been paying attention.
i am tired of gritty adaptations
would you rather it were like dragon ball?
A family family comedy?
Leave it to the Titans!
Eren doesn't even say "I'll kill them" once 0/10
But more serious, will this be a seperate story or will it follow the manga to a certain point ?
I'm not big into anime, but Attack on Titan is great, and this looks like it could be even better.
I love when a live action movie with giant monsters has a real sense of scale, and goddamn, I actually feel uncomfortable looking at those titans.
Most anime adaptations aren't very good, but this definitely has potential. I'm very excited to see how it turns out.
Also, to the guy who said he hates gritty adaptations, you clearly don't know anything about the story.
Despite being fucking terrible, Attack on Titan at least maintained a colour palette that included more colours than dirt grey.
Also why the fuck is there a stinger.
ah come on guys, I have no problem with the tone of the manga, hell, I love it. It's just that the trailer makes it feel too much with that Hollywood-esque gritty tone applied to movie adaptations which has been overused by the industry for years with books, comics, table board games, etc; I just hope they go more original on that man, it's a really good franchise.
In any case it's just a simple trailer, I'll judge any shiz when it comes out, by watching it or getting any legit review.
It looks like something I would watch, I really enjoyed the setting and story of attack on titan.
PS: I never liked anime, but if an episode has the right amount of interesting story for each over-dramatized emotion I can enjoy watching it. Also sometimes it's so extreme it actually becomes funny.
So far the only anime I like are Attack on Titan, No Game No Life and SAO
You need better taste my friend, SAO is terrible.
dark =/= gritty

Is that a tank and a stinger?
Is that a tank and a stinger?
Yeah it looks like they're taking a few liberties with adapting it to film, I don't mind tbh because most of the main elements are still there. It's not as bad as what they did to World War Z
So it's Pacific Rim with huge naked scrawny people like straight out of a vore fanfic instead of kaiju and with emotionally challenged teenagers in silly outfits instead of emotionally challenged adults in ridiculous robots?

You have no room to chew out something creative you have an MSPA avatar.

There's an arse for every seat, bub. I liked the prequels. Maybe not as much as the original trilogy, but I still liked them.
You have no room to chew out something creative you have an MSPA avatar.
I don't think that matters at all.
I just wanna see a bunch of people zipping and zooming around buildings with those winch gas flying things. That was the coolest part of the anime and any time it was used people died pretty much instantly or it was only for 10 or 20 seconds.

What vore fanfiction are you reading?

That's how it starts out. Then it turns into anime trope poop, and you realize a while in that no important characters have any chance of dying and they're all rendered useless by some amazing ability the main character gets.
I mean it's not bad by anime standards, but they cocktease you with the first several episodes into making you think it's actually going to be original.
