[release] If you needed another reminder why you really don't want to get rear ended by a commercial truck while sitting in your car, here it is. This German crash test is intended to show what happens when a truck plows into cars parked behind another stopped commercial truck. Frighteningly enough, this truck was only travelling 43 MPH when it plowed into the Mitsubishi Lancer wagon and 1990s Renault Megane shown here. German ADAC produced this video in an effort to gain support for making the inclusion of emergency brake assist on large trucks mandatory. We don't speak German, nor are we particularly familiar with the specifics of emergency brake assist but if it stops this kind of thing from happening, we support it. Oh good god. I support those brakes is it stops that from happening.
splat
And the truck was empty, imagine if it had a full load.
I prefer their older videos
It was a small truck of 5,5 tons weight. I've once seen a crashtest with a big truck where they pancaked 10 cars, and easily could've kept going for atleast 13 or so cars.
Well that's it, I'm switching lanes whenever I see a big truck behind me.
