• PC Comedian - Harmful Opinion

A followup to the other video that was posted here about political correctness in comedy.
holy shit it's fucking uncanny how similar this woman's rhetoric is to the shit you hear today
Patrice O'neal was probably the most un-PC comedian I can imagine. Unfortunately he died in 2011, maybe the rise of this latest spout of political correctness is linked to all the non-pc comedians that have died since the late 2000s.
Brain guy isn't making much of a point here. He's just regurgitating "PC will be the death of comedy by creating a toothless hug room" shtick that stopped being so relevant around 2008. Look at Patrice's jokes in the special posted above. If it's a dicey topic he almost always has a point he's getting across. (E.G The Natalee Holloway bit in the first five minutes.) He's not just being a dick. That's the difference between an open mic-er who says "offensive" shit then gets booed off the stage and a seasoned comedian. A seasoned comedian always has an angle or a point to prove. Now for new comics getting started? It'll be hard. But its always been hard. If you don't have recognition people will get pissed. Hell, Rodney Dangerfield used to get thrown out of bars when he first started. He gave up for 9 years. In short: Taking some time to workshop a joke, which is what Tompkins wants, won't kill comedy. And I don't think any newer comedians feel the same way already established comedians with a brand to protect like Chris Rock or Seinfeld do. I've seen the Chicago comedy scene get off the ground in the last few years. I've met Cameron Esposito and Kumail Nanjani and I've seen them bomb awfully. They didn't swear off shows at some bars or colleges in general because of it. Comedians will always push and offend some people. Trying to get people to think about their jokes won't stop that. If you're really worried about PC people killing comedy, don't be. This shit ebbs and flows in and out of popularity every couple years.
Yeah, Patrice always made diabetes jokes, and everybody made diabetes jokes about him. He died due to diabetes. If anybody had any right to be outraged, it's him. Rest in peace and serious respect to O'neal, dude was funny as fuck

His last stage performance at the Roast of Charlie Sheen is actually pretty depressing in hindsight. "How the fuck could I be too mean after all this shit. I can't believe it. I'm dying of diabetes and you motherfuckers are like 'oh that evil fat fuck' " rip

The dude took a real stand against the erosiveness of PC on comedy, where even other more notable comedians like John Cleese are stepping out for this reason. He should be remembered for this.
