all I"m hearing is objective statements stated by a pompous fuckwit? literally this whole thing is fucking stupid bc he believes that his opinions are literally the opinions of everyone who isn't a feminist or some shit. fuck I can't believe how smarmy this guy is, almost as bad as TAA.
My oh my, look at that click bait thumbnail. As if the title wasn't enough.
This guy works for Alex Jones.
Does the stereotypical fat ugly radical feminist even exist outside of the internet? Because most of the girls I'm friends with identify as feminists but they're not radicals and are pretty attractive.
Every woman I've ever met that identifies as a feminist and has discussed their beliefs with me has been a rational and reasonable person. Either I've gotten lucky or the Tumblr/Twitter "social justice warriors" are an extremely vocal minority.
He's got a point
If you actually believe this you might want to try expanding your interactions with women to outside of the internet.
Either I've gotten lucky or the Tumblr/Twitter "social justice warriors" are an extremely vocal minority.
Most definitely the latter.
also not sure a lispy guy who looks like he washed out of wolf of wall street's casting for extras has any right to be judging other people's appearances or sex
I wish posting videos like this was considered trolling. Really, the only reason a person would post this is to get people riled up.
Tumblr psuedofeminists aren't main stream at all, bit IMHO they're becoming increasingly common.
Honestly I blame Gawker and the rest of mainstream clickbait culture infecting the minds of impressionable student-aged readers. A lot of the language has spread from the Tumblr/Twitter hugbox culture and become mainstream. Some of my female friends are sharing garbage articles from Jezebel and Buzzfeed and *insert another shitty website because I can't think of any others right now* but even their friends regularly call them out on it.
Do you know how many years it's been since I heard the word "Manginas"? Time to use it to death just like eighth grade, Thanks Op, you're the best.
This is going to end badly, because its wrong for the most part and filled with generalizations; but its also just a dickhead thing to say.
Never understood the blanket hatred on feminists on internet forums. Like it seems like those who complain about it have never actually talked to someone who identifies as a feminist because literally no one in my friend group (or outer friend groups), note: I frequently go to pro feminism events and have strong opinions on the matter myself, acts like the "feminazi" portrayal you all think is real. Like even those with tumblr accounts who talk about privileges and stuff like that are still normal people who are really friendly if you are not an asshole to them, aka a functional member of society. Also not everyone in the feminism culture is a "fat, hairy, rainbow hair colored, ugly girl." Just because you do not agree with the societal norms on how to treat women does not mean you do not care about your appearance at all. To those who complain about "sjws" and "feminazis" I challenge you to actually go and talk to some feminists before making bullshit claims like this video.
To address the video, of course people women who don't meet the beauty/social standards gravitate towards a group of radicals that say that they're perfect looking and pleasant to be around, and it's society that is wrong and oppressing them. Ideologies like these appeal to these types, that's just a fact regardless of however upset people may get when you say it. These sorts of radical philosophies are nice to hear if you're one of those people... But it goes both ways. Look at the ugly/socially impaired men who become hardcore MGOTW/MRA radicals, and then you have the sect of people who are acting as radicals in response to radicalism. Unfortunately, these people decided to co-opt a legitimate movement (feminism) and shit it up to the point where it became a dirty word. Personally I prefer egalitarianism because it's focusing on humanities' problems as a whole and you can't misconstrue that term and twist it into something it's not. I don't think these people on both sides would get away with their nonsense if it was under the name of egalitarianism. A social movement about humanity can't be biased and by definition has to address everyone's problems.
It's pretty pathetic to attack someone's looks like this
It's pretty pathetic to attack someone's looks like this
Attacking someone personally rather then their arguments is a pretty clear sign that you can't formulate an argument of your own.
The posts in this thread are very cool to see, as many people feel this video is shameless clickbaiting and wrong, to boot, which I agree with wholeheartedly. I really like seeing that! splenda, for example, you are so on point it hurts. I love it. For those of you who agree, you'll already understand the points I am making on some level, so sorry for the rehash. This is more for those who aren't sure, or are strongly in agreement with the video in the OP. I want to have an open discussion about your thoughts, because that's what a forum is for I guess lol. In my opinion, lots of internet hate for certain groups (in this case feminists) goes far beyond the concept of "extremely vocal minority." It is more similar to propaganda at this point: You're either with us or THEM. It is lazily villifying and simplifying an extremely diverse and global group of people. Basically, people are getting told repeatedly that some strawman caricature of feminists are the reality, and it colors their opinion of all of them so it feels so jarring when and if they encounter a "normal" version of the strawman. Such as every feminist you might meet around your campus or at a concert or in any place of your life (people you meet online is often a bad metric for reality, who'd have thought). Saying you are a feminist means so little, it is the baseline of not being an asshole. It means acknowledging there are unfair disparities between both sexes (yup, none of that stupid extremist "only guys can be sexist" rhetoric), and that you want to work to fix these gaps in equality. When people say "feminist" in a bad context, they are talking about a stereotype that has been handed down through tons of retellings, sometimes innocently, sometimes with a sexist agenda, to try to paint the issue as something other than bringing equality to both sexes. "One side will go too far!" "It's a slippery slope!" "I might have fewer freedoms tomorrow so that someone who had fewer than me to begin with can have more," is more apt, perhaps. That is the nature of balance. If you see something like this video, ignore it. If you see someone talking about "those SJWs," "them tumblrites," or other shorthands for this boogeyman, ignore it. It is the same mentality as the fucking Red Scare, and it is embarrassing to think like that. It isn't even worth talking about the minority that is extremist feminists because, as opposed to the Red Scare, the ones that DO fit the stereotype have literally no power anyway. If you think they do, you are living with a delusional mindset. It doesn't mean you are stupid, or that you shouldn't have the right to say what you think, but it does mean you are uninformed. Random extremists on Tumblr can't hurt you, and aren't even worth laughing at at this point, because it hurts genuine discussion about being a feminist and supporting equality. It leads to videos like this one and whatever crazy shit blogs some lady posts about men being unable to be raped or whatever. We all want to be free to be the best we can, and get joy out of life. It is okay to share that desire and give it to others.
Dude keeps looking to the side to read what he has to say next. Should probably memorize the text instead of pretending it's OK.
He's got a point
do you honestly think that lol
Fits in almost perfectly with my personal encounters with feminists and "feminists".
idk who you talk to but every feminist I've spoken to (including those classified by you guys as radical) are very down to earth people and understandable, most don't even expect you to agree with them just to hear them out so like you must be either in the wrong crowd or you deliberately stir up the hive
