You're using that word incorrectly. Hate describes a much more stronger emotion than just disliking something. If someone says it's shit, that doesn't mean they hate it or are hating on it.

I believe the term is 'haters gonna hate' which tends to apply considering people go to great lengths to show their hate for the series. For example making a pony thread prompts people to waste effort by opening said thread to tell people how much MLP sucks. So yes, hate is appropriate as they go out of their way to hate it rather than just going "eh not my thing".
Technically not ponies though, just the song in 8 bit form, which is actually pretty good. I don't know why people have this morbid hatred against MLP, you either like it or you don't, but as Pixel said, haters gonna hate
