I was half asleep during most of this stream, but seeing that woke me right up.
This stream was such a mind blowing trip. Vinny's playlist synced up perfectly, and things just got insane.

They are thematically still the same game, except that ActiveWorlds has a latest update of Nov 10, 2014. While Worlds is an actual abandoned no longer being supported game ( DEC 11, 2008 [ Last blog post or signs of life ]).

It has been progressively updated throughout this decade aswell, apparently
I played it in 99. One of the first online games I played. Don't think I ever saw more than 300 people in a world(And it was always the main world). Looks quite a bit different now. Kinda shocked its still up. I doubt it's made any money in a long time.
Also I'm not surprised that someone like Hitomi is the only person left in whatever world he went to. There were some really bizarre ones, and some pretty cool ones.

at first I couldn't really believe it wasn't scripted, but with the discovery of a potential ARG, I guess the makers of it could coordinate enough to actually spook Vinny (or whichever Youtuber/streamer happened to take the bait first). If I had to guess Id say the devs of this game want to announce a new project and are using their defunct old game to do it, or maybe a group of devs just hijacked a completely dead game to do it. Should be interesting to see how it plays out regardless.
All of that said, Vinny just did not feel genuine to me in this video. Wouldn't be surprised if he was in on it tbh.

EDIT: just called, all I got was a prerecorded message saying "this number is not available" and a dial tone afterwards.
Honestly, I dont even find it all that weird. People in those old dead virtual worlds can be quite fucky. Something very similiar happened to me once.

I remember reading in a thread here about it, how the guy just knew a bunch of tricks and glitches in the game, but he managed to convince a bunch of players he was like a god almost and so he and his creepy worshipers were basically the entire population of Worlds at the end of its life cycle.
