Looks a lot more serious than the last film, kind of conflicted seeing as how the entire book was pretty light-hearted.

I'm saying remove all the stupid LOTR trilogy and Simalaron shit that doesn't belong in the Hobbit

not really an issue in my book, as long as they keep the tone consistent. the slapstick humor of the first hobbit movie felt so out of place when there were moments like the dwarf kings decapitation by azog.
also, smaug looks really bad lol. whatever happened to this?

I think Smaug is fine, personally.
orlando bloom had more lines in this trailer than he did in all of the LOTR trilogy

That says 08, that's probably from when Guillermo Del Toro was in charge of things. Style is first to change when you swap directors. Assuming that's legit, that is.

Peter Jackson does not have the rights to take anything from the Silmarillion, so I'm pretty sure there were none, nor will be any of it in "The Hobbit".
Shame really, a Silmarillion movie would be awesome.

You can see it on the website of Peter König, who made concept art for the movie when Del Toro was on it. I just think its looks fit much more with the creatures of the LotR movies.

I don't think that was going to be Guillermo's final design, since he wanted a classic looking dragon in the film.
From what I remember from the books, Smaug never actually saw Bilbo? Since Bilbo was using the ring the whole time he was down in the dragon's lair.
