Ugh this oculus home bullshit. I just want to pull up my desktop.
Very bland conference for an awesome product. Real shame they didn't bring their A-Game.
the fact that they've muted the audience is both awkward and nice at the same time

cringing nonstop to this MASS MARKETING shitshow sellout that oculus has become.
jesus it's not that awful
though the speakers need to be fired
It doesn't seem like most of those games fits with VR
I really hope I can use the Rift without Home and be able to buy one without getting another controller.
third person game with VR? are they mental? thats just about as stupid as their cinema room idea.
i thought the VR was supposed to IMMERSE you into the game, not emulate you playing a game in a room. if i wanted to do that i'd go into my living room and play video games.
"You know you aren't in the game"
bitch please!
A. You are probably forcing yourself to think that.
B. Play some better fucking games.
C. Play any good horror game

It's a perfectly valid point though. Many people will completely forget that they are actually playing a game after a while, unlike normal games (even horror games) where you are always completely aware it's just a game

I ran this through bullshit translate, and this is what I got:
Oculus payed me some serious moolah so I could make this most likely short game.
Honestly, I think it's a good idea. Steam's got SteamVR for Big Picture Mode, though, so you can always use that if you want. The Rift is, ultimately, just another monitor.

People love Lucky's Tale, every report we've seen of it says the third-person viewpoint is perfectly fine. It's an odd thing, and it doesn't make a lot of sense, but it apparently works pretty well. Guess we'll have to wait and see, right?
As an owner of a DK2 I can successfully say that it is pretty great. Even with the resolution issues there are still many moments when I'm playing Elite: Dangerous where I feel like I'm really there. Words can not describe it. The first time I felt "presence" was when I jumped through hyperspace to another star. For a few seconds it really felt like I was there. I knew I wasn't, but knowing that somehow made it better. I imagine it's a similar sensation to lucid dreaming. For the most part it feels like it just adds another layer to the gameplay with how it functions. Being able to look around the cockpit and track targets is great, and it's extremely seamless in how it works, unlike other solutions like TrackIR (good, but a critical disconnect nonetheless between head position and where your eyes are looking), or binding buttons to enable mouselook. Even Euro Truck Simulator is awesome with it. I have a Driving Force GT, and I've had a lot of fun playing that.
Of course there are moments where the magic vanishes. One time I was jumping to all sorts of stars, and trying to drink beer at the same time. To facilitate this it is necessary to use a straw, otherwise you have to lift the goggles off of your head. I jumped to a star, and someone talking to me over Skype distracted me from the fact that my ship was quickly stumbling into the surface of the nearby red giant. I yelled "OH SHIT" and quickly grabbed my joystick, knocking my beer onto the floor. Never fly drunk, kids.
Alien: Isolation is on an entirely new level, even with its official-unofficial unfinished native support for the device. I've had the game since October of last year and I'm still in medical. War Thunder is pretty great too. It's crazy being able to lean in and get closer to my viewport for the guns. It just feels so natural. I tried Skyrim with VorpX (third-party support for lots of games) and that was absolutely amazing. With a few UI mods it can become very VR-friendly. Using magic is just insane. The depth the 3D stereoscopy adds really makes the particles pop. It really does look like a flame is flowing off of your hands. Shooting fireballs with the two-handed perk is insane too. You can really FEEL the fireball getting further away from you as you launch it. Watching movies with it is neat as well. The best way to describe it is like sitting in an IMAX, with a screen that you can adjust to your heart's content. Make it close, make it far, make it big, make it small. It doesn't matter.
Same case with a VR desktop. Even with the issues of text readability it's still great and most of the time I prefer peering through my Rift to use my desktop and view things on the internet than to use my normal monitor. Something about it just feels nicer and easier to look at, even though the text is sometimes very blurry. It has something to do with how the lenses are focused that make it so easy on the eye.
[sp]Porn applications are fucking phenomenal as well. HaremMate with the VR mod is absolutely amazing and I have murdered my dick while playing it[/sp]
