Folds -- An Origami Game(Flash version now released!)
6 replies, posted
So awhile back I made a thread here (note: A lot of the information in that thread is outdated) with a video preview for a flash game I've been working on. I got a lot of great feedback from you fine gentlemen, and polished the game up since then.
Well, now it's done and released(well the web version is anyways -- stay tuned for a mobile version(I'm working with a publisher -- might take some time))!
Here are some screenshots to spark your interest:

And, finally, here is a link to play the game on kongregate.
Feedback, comments, and such are always welcome.
you should make a better points system, for instance if you make the correct shape without using all of your possible folds

I've thought about different scoring systems -- one idea was adding a timed element. For leftover folds I thought about giving you a star for each one that you had left over -- but I thought it would be confusing because there are some levels you simply cannot solve without using all your folds, and as such would never earn stars. Also, this would make it much harder to calculate what is to be considered a "perfect" total score(now its simply 100 * number of levels), and it would leave room for error if say I didn't think a level was possible to be solved in 5 folds but someone does it in 4(so if 5 was what I thought was perfect whats 4?). Regarding timed elements, I didn't want the user to feel too stressed out while they are playing the game for the first time, and wanted the game to be more of a casual experience. For hardcore gamers I agree the % based score may seem a little lacking, but that isn't really my target audience.
Not to dismiss your feedback in any way though -- I always appreciate getting a second opinion, and I'll keep these things in mind as things progress for potential additions to the game. If enough people want timed scoring or whatnot, it will probably be added.
allright, i can see that. but you also have some issues regarding selection with seperate folds:

actually nvm, i see what's going on here
'The Letter T' is kicking my ass, and I see I'm not even half way through the levels. This is pretty good.
I've been doing origami since I was 5, and I beat the game. Some of them were really tough ("Liftoff") but I really appreciated the challenge. Great, great game. I'd love to see more levels.
