Not sure what to think of it. I mean she was pretty much a back drop character with nearly zero background in Sleeping Beauty and now she is playing the main part. And it didn't looked that incredible imo.
Well she did have alot of impact on Kingdom Hearts, I've always wanted to know more about Disney Villans, like Malefiencent, or Ursula, Or even Captain Hook.

Dude the Main characters in that movie are equally boring.
Generic Princess saved by Generic Prince.
Eh I dunno. I loved Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty and she was one of the very few Disney villains that actually scared me when I was a kid. Of course this was nearly all due to Eleanor Audley, the fantastic voice actress who also did Cinderella's bitch step mother, Lady Tremaine.
But for this? I liked Jolie's voice but she sticks out like a sore thumb. Maleficent is the only thing that looks like her animated Disney counterpart and everything else looks completely different. The original had a distinctive style that was inspired by medieval art and the whole 'creating an entire forest of thorns' fit perfectly with the darker gothic-like imagery at the end. From the trailer, doing that in broad daylight doesn't seem as strong for me.
Here it (Maleficent's design) just looks like they stuck it in because it was in the '59 film.
Make a Disney movie where the villain wins.
This looks like that Snow White movie+ Alice in Wonderland. Cmon Disney you can do better.

That would make one weird/awesome horror movie to take typical Disney tales and turn them in a 'what-if' scenario where the villain wins.
Kinda tired of these Hollywood modern takes on fairy tales. LOTR really did set the bar high, but the movies after that tried to follow that epic fashion of story telling are just bleh.
