The controller is not that good
So he had an initial impression that the controller is awful, and that alone seems to affect his entire perception of the system as a whole. Oh, and him being completely oblivious to the mounting bracket clearly labeling "This way up!" in the first moment he had a look at it made me cringe terribly. I don't understand why he would keep critiquing "If they only made it a little larger". There's a reason why there are more than 10 Steam Machines, because obviously the one he purchased would be for a very light user. I really cannot stand this guy. This guy doesn't seem all that smart anyway by just tossing away the instructions, then bitching about how it wouldn't boot. Pretty terrible reviewer overall.
He's not actually a reviewer, he's a game dev
My point still stands. Didn't say he was a terrible game dev.
Who needs instructions, amiright?
To be honest, I love the look of that little box.
To be honest, I love the look of that little box.
Totally agree. It would be the perfect media machine.
Wait there are no arrow buttons at all? Maybe that's just the prototype, but it doesn't look easy to use
He's not actually a reviewer, he's a game dev
A developer who doesn't read documentation.
Wait there are no arrow buttons at all? Maybe that's just the prototype, but it doesn't look easy to use
Why would there need to be arrows? I can understand the first iteration of game controllers from when consoles first came to light, but I would feel it's considered natural mapping by now.
Wait there are no arrow buttons at all? Maybe that's just the prototype, but it doesn't look easy to use
You know you can totally customize the controller and use the trackpads as mice, too. [editline]21st January 2014[/editline] He even showed the cursor movement but didnt use it.
Obviously I can't know for sure because I've never used the controller, but it seems like he just assumed the controller worked a certain way without actually knowing how to use it. [editline]17:24[/editline] This can't be serious. I think he's trolling.

This guy is irritating. He throws away the instructions so casually, then wonders why he has a problem with booting a devkit machine. Then he criticises not knowing how to use the controller after once again throwing away the instructions. To top it off, he has a smug attitude about everything in the video, laughing and saying "Uhh... okay..." every time there is a problem he has created. And Jesus Christ the mounting bracket had a "This way up" symbol on it and he is there rotating the box as if Valve has given him a Rubik's Cube to solve.
That was very badly done and that guy wound me up because he obviously had no idea what he was doing. I like the idea of a mini gaming pc,I do But the controller just makes me not want to buy this

God, the controller looks really bleugh.
Sounds the the DSP of reviewing, amirite?
If by that you mean they both make themselves look like prats, yes.
I would imagine there's some kind of setting to make the controller less/more sensitive.
I would imagine there's some kind of setting to make the controller less/more sensitive.
Well, it emulates a mouse, so I would assume normal mouse sensitivity settings apply to it
Well, it emulates a mouse, so I would assume normal mouse sensitivity settings apply to it
Still, it's weird to use it like a mouse cursor which is invisible and snaps to a nearest button.
It looks like all the issues he had with controlling the menu is because he didn't read the instructions. It looks like he finally figured out that he had to tap the trackpad instead of slide it, but by then he's been swayed so much by his original issues (because he didn't take the time to read how to control the damn thing) he'll probably hate the controller for the rest of his life

i won't bash the usability of the thing until i actually get to use it, i think the controller itself looks neat
