I'd love to have a combination of the budget to build full cosplay suits, and the ambition and raw confidence of a high school freshman that hangs out at the anime club
this is also probably the most complicated ass-backward attempt at simply looking to take commissions

But yeah this is pretty laughable from a materials science/engineering point of view. You know there was little engineering thought put behind this when something is "gesture controlled", but hey I give them props for effort.
Also their proposal for a firefighter suit has been done, and better (See 36:14):

Kickstarter was a mistake.

Nah, honestly Kickstarter (and crowd sourcing in general) can be a great avenue for investing/raising money that would otherwise be hard to do with traditional hard-nosed investors (Even with entrepreneurs or VCs).
The fact remains that people are ultimately up to deciding whether they take the risk of investing their money into it with no contractual agreement of quality, time frame, etc.

Kickstarter is a great thing that has allowed a great many number of projects that otherwise would not have come to fruition to flourish.
But for some reason people like to gloss over the many, many successes to focus on the inevitable failures that come with it.
