this beat is rare
honestly why are most modern games like this, simplified to hell and back?
Why cant games be hard like the old crash bandicoots or a million other titles released around 10-13 years ago?
Casuals.
Instead of making a quality product for a select minority, they simplify the hell out of it to appeal to the majority.
Minimal effort, maximum profit.

Because there was always that one level 3/4 in the game that was too hard to get past.
I play games to enjoy the experience, not get frustrated. I don't feel as rewarded when beating unnecessarily-difficult levels or boss fights as much as I feel pissed off that it took so much out of my enjoyment that could have been.
Games that don't trust the player enough to take a ladder on their own are an entirely different story.
But the really difficult stuff is what made me fall in love with video games. I hated the frustration, but overcoming it and solving a difficult problem or defeating a seemingly impossible boss made me feel like I could accomplish anything.
I think that's what video games should be about. I never liked people who straight up quit out of a game in the middle of a difficult situation. That doesn't teach anybody the right set of values. You can't just open the pause menu and quit the game if some shit happens in the real world that you absolutely will need to deal with.

I agree with this to an extent. I dislike those games where boss fights are not necessarily difficult but just take a really long time to overcome because of the ridiculously large health pool. I like a good challenge that is long and difficult.
I recently beat this for the first time and it was alright. The quick time events were infuriating, the "RUN AND JUMP EVERYTHING IS FALLING APART" sections were tedious, and though the combat was decent there was way too much of it.
But it really was okay once things opened up more and there were larger environments to navigate.

I really liked the pocket sand skill.
