It pains me to see what Flight Simulator's multiplayer became. I remember the Gaming Zone and all those rooms and virtual airlines and shit, treating the hobby with some RESPECT.
That video was an experience.

I actually still have the files from the Gaming Zone. I really don't know why, but they survived the move across my PC's over the years. You can still start up the Friends List part of it, but the rest won't start.
"Roger that OUH AUH".
That man has a beautiful voice.

"Gonna show you how to butter the bread...peep this landing!"
That airplane selfie was beautiful
This was way funnier than I expected it to be.
"Schools in San Diego are going to be closed for a snow day."
Yep, that got me.

Flying with the AEF in DCS definitely still has that level of seriousness - more so when doing missions.
There's also a UK aerobatic DCS server that is insanely dignified.

my grandfather has been operating his faux airline, KenAir, in X-Plane for going on 6 years now. He's got physical flight logs, custom livery for all of his fleet, the works

I can definitely respect that kind of dedication.
I'm getting Microsoft FSX after this video
There's really not that much in it unless you REALLY like flight simulators
You take off, set the autopilot, jerk off, land, repeat
FSX is fun as hell just to do approaches and takeoffs. Most servers have Teamspeak or Mumble and do live ATC. Sure, it's only fun if you're interested in flying, but it's a relatively cool experience

Some Virtual Airlines were quite good. VATSIM was/is still awesome, and even the old casual island hopping sessions you'd get 20 people in on were fun

How's the ATC portion of it? These players are using a bunch of jargon I wouldn't have expected them to know, is that common for FSX players?

I've never gotten into flight sims myself, but every once you'll hear about an older man, usually ex-military, with some crazy gaming rig purpose-built for flight simulators and it really warms my heart. It's just so neat seeing older people getting such a kick out of flight sims, don't know why.
flight sims can be kind of relaxing for me
just the ambient noise while flying a 747 is soothing
This guys voice is perfect for this
