All I want from it, is an optimized ArmA 2 with better controls.
Arma is brilliant but there UI team should be SHOT.
All I want from it, is an optimized ArmA 2 with better controls.
The movement is definitely very clunky and awkward. Arma 2, that is.
Driving seems much more fluid and comfortable, it's so weird to drive in Arma 2. [editline]10th June 2012[/editline] I hope they've made pistols more usable, they feel terrible in Arma 2.
DayZ 2
The movement is definitely very clunky and awkward.
Looks alot less clunky than ArmA 2, I know they wanted to make you feel like your body has weight, but they have overdone it a bit in ArmA 2
They are implementing their helicopter simulator into the game.
I would have liked ARMA 2 is it was a bit more intuitive, there was so much stuff in it trying to figure everything out and remember it was pretty hard.
I hope the aircraft controls are smoother. Fucking hate when my helicopter starts just circling meanwhile I'm not even pressing buttons, it just wants to go left or right.
i dont like dayz but im glad it was made because it will help this a lot financially
Damnit i recently bought Arma 2.
Are you using autohover?
I'm not which makes me question why it's doing it, lol.

At least mobility looks like it will scale with the weight of your pack now.
The sounds are still shit. Everything else is nice.
All I want from it, is an optimized ArmA 2 with better controls.
And a better vault or jump, the current one is weird as shit
We need a running vault!
15:40 Oooooh, burn!
They are implementing their helicopter simulator into the game.
Full ToH flight models on all helos in the game
Arma needs: -Human movement, because in 2 it feels stiffer than in a Mech Warrior game (or Steel Battalion, which was a simulator). That says a lot. -Less fucking menus. I shouldn't need a menu to pick up a weapon on the ground. -Optimization in general. Arma always feels clunky, not only in movement.
-Less fucking menus. I shouldn't need a menu to pick up a weapon on the ground.
You don't need a menu to pick up a weapon on the ground. You only need to press like one button for that.
You don't need a menu to pick up a weapon on the ground. You only need to press like one button for that.
Yeah that was a bit of a hyperbole, you don't need it for that, but a lot of things require clunky menus when they could be one-button presses (mostly comes up in vehicle interaction). It seems they made the UI much better though.
I hope they make the ragdolls more realistic. I know it's still in development, but when a person goes down, they just slump to the floor in the same pose every time. The animations were better and more varied in ARMA 2.
Wow I love the fact that on the screen in that submarine thing it had a low frame rate, making it look like a real life monitor. It looks like they paid real attention to detail this time (like they always do though)
The last thing ARMA needs is more casualization. It thankfully doesn't need to appeal to the 'wider audiences'. I much prefer the somewhat steep learning curve and the getting used to game mechanics because that's what sets it apart from other games and makes it overall far more rewarding. At least in my opinion.
So you'd rather the game be magnitudes more unnecessarily complicated and clunky just for the privilege of being able to play a video game that might frustrate someone else? Having to sift through some of the stickiest and retarded UI isn't being "hardcore." Trust me, it'd take a while before anyone could call ARMA casual. I wouldn't expect my grandma to be playing this game right after a session of Bejeweled.

At least in my opinion.
Realistic movement and not having to struggle with the interface every 2 seconds don't casualize the game. At all. Interface problems don't make it more realistic in any way (soldiers don't wade through menus in real life), in fact the interface needs to be as streamlined as possible to come close to how it is in real life (in real life, you don't need to press a button to do something, you just do it). There is nothing realistic about the movement in Arma2, getting stuck in the door frame or a small obstacle doesn't happen in real life because our brain adjusts our movement accordingly (you will for example slightly twist your shoulder involuntarily to avoid that door frame). Soldiers don't move like 500kg fatasses with crutches, not even back in the middle ages when knights wore plate armour. Steep learning curve and depth needs to come from game mechanics, not shitty UI, clunky movement (note: non-clunky movement does not mean CoD run&gun) and bugs.
I just hope the framerate wont be in the shitter like it is in arma 2 99.9% of the time despite having well above the recomended specs
did anyone else hear cult of personality towards the end

At least in my opinion.
There are waaaaaaay too many menus - I'd be fine with this, if they explained how the hell they work. Playing the ARMA II demo, I couldn't figure to work the inventory (because they don't tell you how to work it). There's a difference between a steep learning curve and dropping you into the middle of the game without telling you how to play.
I can't wait to see what sorts of awesome missions there will be for this, and when can I get my steam preorder?
