What did totalbiscuit do this time
The video didn't upload properly, so he removed it so he can re-encode and re-upload in a few hours.

mhm, it cut out at around 1hr 9m, seemed like it was supposed to be longer
Apparently it's going to be the biggest WTF Is he'd ever done, since there were so many things he has to say about the game. Until then, we'll just have to wait.

well from the 49 minutes or so I watched of it, it's quite interesting, I guess you could say.
[sp]Basically he criticizes the game since a lot of other reviewers misseed the flaws, and rips apart the combat, the bizarre "food scavenging", and the "backdrop" in some areas, but praises the art style, and was almost to elizabeth then the damn video stopped.[/sp].
From what I've heard on his Twitter, apparently he's covering all the things he liked and disliked about the game, similar to what he did with Human Revolution.

So he's playing his overly cynical character. No surprise there.

actually it sounds like he's giving a proper review instead of licking the games balls
actually it sounds like he's giving a proper review instead of licking the games balls
It's the "rips apart the combat" part I'm most referring to. It has average/good combat.
It has solid combat that allows you to mix things up a bit.
That's better than most games nowadays that aren't RPGs.
I loved the combat :c
the combat gets very repetitive very quick, even with the use of vigors
hell, most vigors are straight up useless until the final hour of the game (played on hard, dunno if 1999 mode is any different)
I used shock jockey for my entire 1999 mode playthrough
i thought the combat was the weakeast part of the game, even weaker than the shallow exploration and linearity
[editline]7th April 2013[/editline]
i mean fuck, i tried to vary my vigor use but it was ultra-viable to just spam shock jockey through the entire game. it's like the game wanted me to do that.
It seemed to me like the people who really complained about the combat being dull, were playing the game dull. I was running all over the place using a lot of vigors, zipping around shooting rockets from the skyline, stuff like that. It was as fresh as you made it. Watching TB he complains about the shooting not being like CS and then just camps in areas and waits for the enemies to come to him. To me Bioshock wasn't the game where you would try to min max what was most effective, but rather just let loose and and flow with the chaos.
I like how we are discussing this without the video even existing yet lol
Knocking enemies off ledges with the water push vigor was the best.

i tried that for a while, but it was nowhere near as efficient as just shooting guys with the handcannon, shotgun, and shock jockey. you can't really blame the player for wanting to efficiently kill people, and claim that they should be doing the complex fancy kill shit that takes 3 times as long.

So basically, you're saying its not your fault for intentionally making the combat easier?

I dunno man I play games for fun not efficiency. I get why people would want to be just efficient as possible, but in the end the whole min max way ruins games for me. I'd much rather have long lasting combat experiences that I can actually remember while doing cool shit in, as opposed to just slogging through it like it's a chore.

The player shouldn't have to go out of their way to make the game more challenging. That's what the difficulty modes are supposed to be for.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I agree with you 100%, but I can see why others may not.
So basically, you're saying its not your fault for intentionally making the combat easier?
not me in particular, but players in general. there needs to be incentive for the player to mix up his fighting and use different guns and shit. i did that for the first 3 quarters of the game, but near the end i didn't really see the need to switch to any other guns besides the shotgun and handcannon because i had plenty of ammo and all of the other guns, save the sniper rifle and carbine, didn't really feel good to me.
i pretty much see people sticking to specific vigors in their playthroughs
when i ran through it, i only really used bronco and return to sender

Pretty much this.

People are mostly compelled/forced to stick with a few select weapons/vigors thanks to the upgrade system.
I had tons of fun in 1999 with the vigors that made you briefly invincible on airlines. Really made me maneuver the level constantly instead of taking cover and waiting for the shield to regen. I swung around, switched lanes, opened tears here and there, used different vigors from different angles knowing that Elizabeth can probably toss me some more later anyway (really nullified the "too awesome to use" problem for me, loved that design decision), experimented with different Q-combos, I had a blast in the arenas.
Lategame I regretted every point I spent in Shield instead of Salts, 'cause that made the game exponentially more fun. There was just that one mini-boss that for me turned the game into a war of attrition really fast, that's where I liked having my shield upgraded.
I actually used shock jockey very rarely, most to set up traps for the terminators. Had too much fun doing crowd control with pushing, pulling and bronco'ing enemies I could than splash-damage to bits.
So very glad I played a completely different game than he apparently. I felt so fast, free and mobile while still presented with a good challenge I seriously started worrying how I could ever go back to another linear FPS that offers so much less variety and fluidity.
Then again, I immensely enjoyed playing Prototype that way as well where other people were way more direct and brute-force instead of agile and diverse, so maybe playing that first had a positive influence on me.

thing about that is i never really had enough salts to do anything cool like that, could pull off maybe one combo with bronco + jockey, and then had to run around looking for salts on the ground or wait for elizabeth to give me them. honestly, i think the combat would have been way more radical like the way you're preaching if they kept the syringes and health packs from BS1/2. that way you wouldn't have to leave the combat zone or rush to cover to grab yourself some more supplies.
People are mostly compelled/forced to stick with a few select weapons/vigors thanks to the upgrade system.
that's another big thing
near the end i WANTED to use different guns, but they were basically useless against the typical grunts because i hadn't upgraded them before
so like... 14/16 weapons were basically useless for me.
I loved the combat :c
It was incredibly disappointing. The vigor system allowed for all sorts of crazy combos (even though most started to become useless towards the end of Hard), so why would the developers think a two weapon system would be a good idea?
